Hi There

I have another question regarding my V6 156. I am trying to work my way through the standard service items one by one. I bought an e-learn CD from ebay, but I do not find it very user friendly:mad:

My question is the about the torque setting for tightening the sump bolt. The bolt on the V 6 is totally different to all the other models and according to the manual has to be torqued up to 64nm or about 45ftlb. This sounds rather a lot to me, is this correct.

Also amongst all bits and pieces I have bought is a pollen filter. I can't find any mention of it in the manual. Where dose it go???

Sump bolt is easy.

Get a new copper washer, clean the bolt head base and the sump pan area with a cloth dipped in white spirit or something to get any ingrained filth off.

Then hand tighten the bolt as tight as hand tight is for you. Then a quarter to a third of a turn to nip it up.

Fill it up and obviously give it a nip more if any oil leaks out.

With a new copper washer, if it doesn't leak when it is tightened up, it won't till you take the bolt out!

Remember, thou shalt not re-use a copper washer!

Sump washers from Alfa now seem to be the ones with the rubber seal built in. But still a use-once item.
