For Christs sake go for it.. do what ever you want to do.. no need to justify it in practical terms.. it's your car..
it's a styling exercise.. if it wern't for people like you we'd all still be driving around in Morris 1000's..

I think it's horrible but I'm an old git.. My Ford Capri with Carlos Fandango wheels and jacked up rear suspension was much better.. my dad didn't like it though. :)

here's an old cigar ad from about 1973

I've just spent 2 hours browsing the site - not heard of it before now. I really like a lot of the cars on there, this one in particular;

Retro Rides - 1968 Viva with carb'd turbo 1200cc rotary

But I'm not a fan of the GTV in terms of its looks. It is interesting as a project and I'd like to see more Jowey.
Bit of a shame about the sump!

I also found this nugget of a website though the HB viva thread;

Jaycar Electronics - Better. More Technical.

The High temp switch and thermometer mentioned in the thread is very interesting (EGT monitor).

This is what a GTV looks like with black kit.... I don't recommend because the front lip is fatter than the side skirt and it looks a little retarded. This is a test fit of my Cup Kit. I was considering wrapping mine in carbon and doing the rear lower part of the bumper in carbon also. Then i decided it wouldn't look so great and just got it painted.

The Mazdaspeed wheels are very interesting... painting them dark will make for a bit of a stock car look...

Think the black body kit look works on some colours - agree it's not right with red. There's a chap on here with a nuvola blue trackday project, which I think looks good with black bodykit and wheels:

Think this one looks pretty nice too:

Not sure about it with vela blue though, might be too dark for the contrast to work.

I think the skirt and lip flow nicely into each other.
I'm glad you went with all red.
Black and red is a very strong contrast, team that with the ride height and a mass of black tire sidewall and that the unflattering shadowing of the photo and it looks as if the bottom 4" of the car has vanished into a black hole.

The wheels do kind of look like steel wheels with a set of beauty rings fitted to the outer lip it's true. :vomit:

That Nuvola blue one does look purposeful and well suited in that surrounding.

I have seen a white car with black aero-kit on a European forum, nice strong contrast but a bit too strong for my liking.

This car is Atollo blue rather than Vela so slightly lighter and also the kit isn't black it is a satin metallic grey.

Well I like it. Adds a much needed bit of agression to the lower edge which is missing from the GTV (excluding Cup)

Finally back on all fours :thumbs:

Limited driveway space means bad photos, got a short drive later before she gets tucked up in the garage while I'm back studying in Wales. :(

Well she's tucked away nice and warm in Somerset while I am studying in Swansea. Hope to get her out to stretch her legs over christmas and maybe refit the bodykit but other than that she's just going to be resting some of that mileage off.
