Shell vmax power only

I'm not going to try and quote figures to much because I'm no expert. What I will say thou is that the difference of the car now to when it was stock is massive! If anyone is ever in the Southampton area I'm more then willing to let you have a test drive to see what I mean.

Are you sure the Abarth 500 lot use the turbo from the Mito QV? As we got a hybrid one done off a 155 which came from the manufacturer saying it was good for 230bhp, are you not thinking about that one instead?

Yup from what I have read they are using the Garret from the Punto which is the same gt1446 right? seems to be 220-230bhp when TMC tune them up, I'm not sure if they do anything else to them, they call it a 200+ upgrade so perhaps its not a reliably putting out those figure, One Abarth Punto SS with TMC tuning box and exhaust put out 235bhp on an independent dyno.

Sorry mate the actual final reading was 194, I just forgot to take the pic. To be honest it feels much faster then my mates focus which I think is 225bhp.

Also these guys clearly knew what they were doing and spent a fair bit of time on it so I would be sceptical about a different company getting an extra 40bhp.

May be the case its optimistic but popped my stock Punto on the dyno earlier in the year and it put out ~180bhp (should be 163bhp) , reconfirmed this recently as I am going for the SS kit Friday which includes a remap to 180   so have been hoping to see stronger figures.

yer its defo the focus st which my mate has, and my car is now much faster for a fact. I know the focus is heavy but its 2.5T with 225bhp so i was suprised just how much faster mine was.

im no expert when looking at dyno figures etc, but i do know that although mine has "only" a boost of around 24 bhp, its across the whole range, and not just a peak power at only a small part of the gear range. Also the improved torque is mental.

Hopefuly pudz will be having a rolling road day soon so we can all check it out and get this confirmed :)

Yer I don't believe in tuning boxes. It's got to be better to specifically Duno tune a car?

Pudz, what's the difference in turbo you fit? Is it bigger allowing more air through? Just thinking about getting it done

Thanks

A hybrid turbo is larger internals (for more flow) fitted inside the existing housing, so the turbo fits existing pipework and looks visibly the same from the outside.

I didn't realise the 155 used a different turbo to the QV, that explains the difference in outputs on the Abarths that use them. Is the Punto Evo Abarth also 170bhp as standard with the MA head, basically the same as the Mito QV?

The APE is supposed to be 163bhp but its basically a QV, is the 1.4 MA engine, all the pipework in the engine state 170 etc just like the QV.

Its why I hang around the Mito forums as there are more Mitos than Abarth Punto Evos about and so more tuning going on.

When Abarth SS the old AGP from 155-180 they ditch the IHI and fit the Garret plus injectors, filter, exhaust and high flow cat but clearly being manufacturer supported modification its still pretty conservative on the outputs that are achieveable with the setup and additional work.

had a play with it over the last week.

slightly lesss mpg when driving sensible (47, down from 50), and a dramatic drop in mpg when driving fast lol

should be good weather sat, so will detail car then, and take pics
