Hi gang

Just had my MOT done (all good) on my GT1.9 which is 10 years old and 115k miles.

In the summer I changed my lower turbo hose as the original one had split, and all was well.
The MOT guy let me in the pit to show me a few oil drips (not splatter, definite drips) near the turbo end of the lower hose.

I asked him if it was coming out of the end of the hose and he said no and I could see the oil 'drip' commenced higher up. He said its leaking turbo seals, which I know is normal, but where is the oil coming from, if its not coming out of the end of the hose pipe?? I didn't think there was any other places oil could come from but a hole in a pipe?

Could it be another hose? (the upper one?)
I am also down on boost a little and the turbo has a tiny whistle at 3k rpm, which i would initially think is an air leak.

Maybe I've not tightened the hose enough and its come loose? ....but doesn't explain the oil drips originating higher up.

Any suggestions please.

It's oil from the crank breather hose most likely, connects to the turbo hose just downstream of the MAF. Don't know how the oil escapes exactly, seems to just weep from the crank breather to turbo hose connection. The bottom of your inter cooler will also likely be full of oil. Don't think this is anything unusual, just oil in the crank breather flow that makes it past the oil separator.
