How often do you other Mitoists drive in D mode? Just wondering as the difference going from D back down to N is huge IMO!

In the countryside I'm almost always in D, but around town I rarely use it, even though urban driving is probably 60% of my driving.

Pretty much what dan said, as soon as the twistys come though its into D. I do quite often just leave it in A as i like the digital speedo and pooter about.

I find that for me D mode is actually safer than N mode in normal conditions, because the steering wheel in D gives more feel for the road, meaning it is easier to make corrections on the steering wheel for understeer/oversteer, and also the Q2 allows you to take corners too fast without dieing, which is better than being in N mode going too fast into a bend and understeering off the road. As for the traction control/ABS, D already had more than enough aids for my liking, as I prefer to control it with my foot

The car doesn't automatically choose "A" mode, you've got to select it. Otherwise the DNA switch would be a bit pointless. And the digital speedo display pops up without having to scroll through the menu for it.

I tend to drive in "N" mode the majority of the time, unless I'm on twisty B-roads. It's a lot of fun in "D".

It wont come on when below 2 degrees, but it does stay in A when the vehicle is turned off and on

I've just come home from the cinema (went to see The Lovely Bones) and the roads were all very quiet on the way home, so I chucked the car into "D" and put my foot down (more so than I have ever done since owning the car), and I had good fun. Well within safe/legal limits, though.

Nothing like an empty road. ;)

I am almost always in 'D' mode, I find that just as I pull away I automatically change it.

Using it when having a cold engine is no problem at all - it's the way you drive it that makes the difference. Having it in D and not thrashing the engine is fine, just as having it in 'N' and thrashing the engine is bad!

You know that you can't change to 'D' over 60mph, well I accidentally discovered that you can can change from 'D' to 'N' above this speed. :)

I like to keep my foot in the same position when switching into 'D' and letting my MiTo build up acceleration and speed on it's own. Although from time to time I do wonder who's driving who.
