The start stop icon on the LCD display. With the text "start stop disabled" if you press the start stop button by the stereo it continues to say the message. If you turn off the car then back on it clears the error but start stop doesn't actually work. I've noticed that from when you start up it takes exactly 5 mins for the message to come up. It does this consistently. I have that code reader. I'll get the software. Any idea where the obd2 port is on the car? Thanks for your help

"Start Stop Disabled" is not the normal error for battery problems. It normally says something like "Start/Stop Not Available" which in itself is just a normal message and indicates the parameters for S/S to work haven't been achieved (of course if you have the wrong battery then you always get this message).

The port is under a pull down flap near your right knee.

I got my car 2nd hand 2 years old with 4000miles, but for the test drive they had to jump start it. I made a point of saying I wanted a new battery on it before I would buy the car.
On pick up I checked and yes it had a new battery. After a few months of ownership during which time the stop start had never worked, I checked out the forum pages to try and find out why and found that the battery should be an AGM one, I remember thinking what's a AGM battery ? more research on the forum revealed what I needed to know. The point of this post is that the garage had put on a brand new Lion 096 battery.
I went online and ordered a new Varta AGM battery, guess what ? the stop/start works all the time, even on very short trips and with the lights on, only time it won't kick in is if I have the heater on screen. (You know the saying " Buy Cheap, Buy Twice).

Hi again, your error is the same as I had. 5 mins to the second and up it pops. I know you have checked the fuse but the one that had gone on mine was not the one listed in the handbook, it was nearby, Intelligent battery something or other. If you are not sure pop it to an Indie or main dealer to check.

It drove me insane, like you I bought a new battery and nothing changed until I found a 20p fuse cured the problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I checked every fuse including the bigger ones. These were all in the main fuse box under the bonnet. There's no fuses elsewhere? They were all intact... I code read the car with multiecuscan and it threw a code for charging error (or similar can't remember the wording) so I cleared it. After driving it for 5mins after I got the same problem. It's so annoying! Any other ideas?
