Now i'm facing a new issue.

I mounted chains, tensioners, guides without previously moving the cranckshaft when disambling.

Then I wanted to turn the cranckshaft to check that everything was fine.
But it's not the case. After a couple of degrees clockwise it blocked.

So I wanted to restart from the beginning.
I moved to 8 o'clock anticlockwise and removed the first secondary chain.
Then i continued anticlockwise but i didn't succeed to align the crankshaft mark with the oil pump dot. It's blocked and the crankshaft bolt unscrews.

Do you think i should disamount in this state the primary chain and the 2nd secondary chain ? then keep on trying to align crankshaft/oil pump dot maybe by moving the camshaft.

Start again from scratch. Follow the procedure slowly and re - check every step as you go. Don’t force the crankshaft and don’t move the camshafts - other than by hand - no tools. Just take your time, you aren’t that far out.

Hi all,

First chain realigned on 2 L and in the hole of the idler sprocket.

Now i have to meet oil pump at 5 o'clock. The crankshaft is half an hour later as seen on the last posted picture.
All spark plugs are out but by hand i cannot move the crankshaft. I don't see how you do that.

Either I can screw the cranckshaft bolt an try to turn it clockwise but I feel I will be blocked (am I wrong ?),
or I must turn it anticlockwise and really don't know how to proceed...

Thank you !
Seb

So, impact gun to screw enougth the crankshaft bolt and i've been able to go anticlockwise.
All chains are on, 3 complete turns without any bug !

Need to buy the seal for water pump which is inside the cover and silicone and it will be time to mount the cover.

Nice new year's eve !

Do you recommend to put seal on both cover and engine and spread out with finger ?
I just applied RTV to cover only. Use a glove and spread thin with a finger evenly. Leave it for a few hours to form a skin.
Getting the cover on whilst trying not to scrape or knock the RTV or damage the crank seal. Have fun.

Use an old style sardine tin opener or fabricate something similar. You slip this over the gasket maker tube and wind it, so it coils up. This will allow you to apply a uniform bead as you continue winding up the tin opener.

Grab 2 or more long bolts of the same thread as timing cover bolts. Saw off their heads and use these as guide pins for installation of timing cover. Its easiest to dry fit the timing cover, select 2 or more bolt holes opposite each other, mark and trim the guide bolts to allow for extraction. Apply your bead to timing cover and install.

To reiterate, do a dry run first, guide bolts in, timing cover on..play around with the guide bolt locations for easiest fit.

Thank you for your advices.

I tried a dry run and as expected it wasn't fun at all.
I observed there were few scratches on the left middle side of the cover undoubtedly done during removal.
I took a metal file and applied roughly 20 moves.
Now the cover comes in and off very smoothly and is not blocked by the right upper side of the alternator's mount.

That's really nice to hear. Well done mate.
What milage is yours. I'm thinking of doing the same but other than covers off and a tooth brush would like to try some sort of spray in product if they work.

The tale of the sickly JTS

I cleaned my 2.2's inlet valves recently, this link should take you to the post about it and has a link to the eBay brush kit I bought as well as a description of what I did.
I don't know what access will be like on the 3.2, can't imagine it'll be great in situ! but the principles will be the same. Hope this helps!

It appeared after a cold night (-3°c).
I've found that P0302 -> cyl2, P0304 -> cyl4, P0306 -> cyl6. All are on the same bank.
I cleaned the wiring. P030 maybe appear as soon as some of them appears.

P1670 seems to be related with fuel pump.
She stayed parked 3 months with low fuel (1 bar and a half) during works.
I'm thinking of adding 20 liters of fuel just to see. If water cames in that doesn't sonds good, does it?

I was planning to change oil that has 15kkm on wednesday. Do you think this crappy oil could start P0018 and the oil change make it dispear? i wish...

Thanks a lot

It appears one of your camshaft positions on front bank is stuffed.

P0018 Crankshaft Position Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor A )
P1670 Electronic Feedback Signal Not Detected >> most likely getting this code since cam position sensor not providing a signal.

Yep P0300 is multiple misfire detected.

So which is senor A ? , no idea ! Guessing it is the one furthest from radiator.
You could try swapping them on the same bank. The dodgy Cam position sensor would then give code P0019((Bank 2 Sensor B )
