That looks like the inside pads from each side, have they sent all 4 pads the same? the metal clip is what pops into the piston, so the outer 2 don't have them.

I upgraded to ferodo 2500's, they dont have wear indicators so i just cut the connector off the old pad and stuck it back on the mounting to hold the disused wire in place, maybe someone has already done this to yours? mines an 20v JTDM aswell, so would have thought you would have wear indicators if i do?

They are not identical, but that is common enough for pattern parts. I doubt there would be a problem fitting them but someone will be able to confirm this for you.
Your old pad has a wear indicator and so does the new one, what is the problem?
You old pads have also worn down to the metal studs so you should check that you don't have some bad gouges on the disk itself.
To be honest, Black Diamond aren't the best pad, you would be better off with Ferodo DS2000 or even DS2500 in the front if you can afford them. The braking from those pads is stunning.

i can agree with that! decided to upgrade after a near miss doing an emergency stop in heavy rain (ones on it were so poor couldn't even get ABS to kick in!). these are 10x better, although the pedal is still softer than i would like, maybe better with new fluid?

As Alfa Tuner said those are the wrong pads and not for the calipers you have. You'll need to send them back and get them to send the correct ones

oh for fffffffffffflops sake. Seems like I gotta send em back then. Was gonna strip it down and try em but don't think I will bother. where is the best place to get some DS pad from? cheers for you help by the way. Also found out I have every possible hex size other than 7mm - sod it. Something telling me this job aint gonna get done this week.

7mm isn't a preferred size - it's only used for vehicle brakes - so it's not included in standard hex driver sets. The thinking behind using 7mm was to discourage "do-it-yourself" pad fitting by using a size which was intended to be a "dealer only" tool!

Your new pads are definitely the wrong ones - look at the "ears" on the outer pads & you'll see they're missing a locating face.

The "studs" you can see are on the backplate!

They wouldn't fit. They will have thicker pads to make up for the thinner discs.

No idea on the DS pads, but I'd run a google search or two ... or try a search on the forum ... may throw up a few sites where others have bought from ... they're not cheap though! :)

after some digging it looks like Black diamond have the part numbers mixed up. They list the pad I have (PP449) for 2.0 and 2.4 and another pad PP229 for 1.6 and 1.8 However the box on the PP449 states 1.6 and 1.8 and the PP229 has the extra ear I need. I have asked MSW to swap em and send me the PP229 to try. MSW have been cack so far - supposed to get back to me - no call/no e-mail - thanks MSW!

Chris

As per my e-mail earlier, we have identified that the Black Diamond Catalogue (and thus our site) is infact incorrect and the pads you have purchased are not the correct fitment for your car.

You have the PP449 which are meant for the smaller engined cars. As per the diagram below:

You actually need the PP229 for your model car. As per the diagram below:

These will be shipped out to you on Monday.

Black Diamond have apologised for the mix up and i hope this has not reflected poorly on the service from MSW. We would have come back to you sooner but it has taken till this evening to identify the problem.

I hope this is all okay.

Kind Regards

I suggest you change the details on your website then, as it is still showing 449s for the V6. :p

We did indeed track you down.

I have spoken to Black Diamond about this again this morning and they are going to ship you the correct pads today (PP299). You should receive these tomorrow.

With the pads you have there they are happy for you to keep these for Free. You can sell them on to another member whos car they will suit. This should cover any inconvenience you have caused.

I hope this is all okay?

MSW, good service.
Thank you :)

They are in the process of being changed as we speak so should be all corrected by around noon. Then we should have the only correct listing for your cars on the web :D

Speak soon.

Whats the grief with the 7mm - all my sets have 7mm hex in them - an allen key is of help for getting these started though - I just use the ratchet for running them up.

Done a vented set of pads and discs this morning actually, Alternative Auto's - ÂŁ95.00 delivered including VAT - Mintex (before anyone mentions China..) made in the UK, fit and stop fine.

I hope you got him to sign a disclaimer then, as that arangement is patently unsafe and an untested modification to the vehicle.

The pads are a different shape and the calipers are different, so I dont see that the pads are retained properly or that the pistons wil have enough travel in them to compensate for pad wear,.
