People who drive straight over raised mini roundabouts!

Some mini islands in our town are just painted on to the road and not raised mounds. There is at least one that is impossible to drive around unless you have a London cab. Sadly there are still some people who try to get round without touching the paint and end up bumping up the kerb or even reversing on the junction. I thought the idea of them was to keep traffic flowing by making people give way at busy junctions not pither about trying to steer round the things. Personally I use the easiest way around them if there are no other cars at the junction. Sorry, not with you on this one :(

If its raised, you are allowed two wheels on it. If its painted on, it is only there to indicate priorities and right of way and perfectly legal to drive over it. Its often more dangerous to try and avoid it then drive over it. Mini roundabouts are not designed for more than one car at a time, raised or not.

0/10 for the rant.

Sorry mate got to disagree on this one.

there are at least two of our drivers who have been prosicuted for going the 'wrong way' round a flat mini, as far as the police were concerned you have travelled the incorrect way round the roundabout.

seems stupid but it would seem to be the case

people in the left lane, not indicating, at a 2 lane roundabout with two exits, left at 90 degrees or right at 270 degrees, who then turn right.

I witnessed the most unbelievably shocking driving on Sunday, was following a women in a Honda something , the road has a sharp left then splits into 2 lanes, left for straight on and right for right turning traffic.
She went left, I started to pull along side ready to go right, she drifted across towards me so I dropped back and let her turn right ahead of me. Slighty annoyed at this point. :tut:

After the right turn the road split again left for straight on and right for right, she goes right so I pull alongside ready to go straight on, then accelerate sharply to avoid a collision as she drift towards me again. A bit angry now.

I then look in my mirror to see her following me and not turning right.

Up ahead is a roundabout where I shall be turning right to go to Sainsbury, I check my mirrors and am amazed to see the Honda on my left driving in the wrong lane against the flow of traffic, fortunately for her there was no traffic. :wow:

She followed me into the car park, after finding a spot away from everyone else :), I wandered over to her car and in an incredulous voice asked "what are you doing?", she apologised but her husband/partner started to have a go at me shouting "haven't you ever made a mistake!". I advised him to leave it alone and advised the women that she was going to have an accident if she kept driving like that.

From the highway code, their capital letters not mine

Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

Especially an Alfa with the turning circle of the Exxon Valdez.

What does annoy me is people on a large painted mini roundabout who turning right across your nose but cut the rounabout so much that its between you and them, think that makes sense. :)

I would normally use the opportunity whilst they should be driving forwards before turning right, to move myself to go straight across they should then pass behind me as I will have cleared the roundabout, but no they are there in front of you with the roundabout on their left.

With The Gta I've had to do a three point turn on a mini roundabout to get all the way round twice before.

My personal annoyance in this vain is people turning right from the main road at a t-junction and cutting the corner. Especially when you're approaching the junction to turn right onto the main road and they nearly take the nose off your car with the side of theirs.

I'm thinking of going to the gym, then telling everyone about it, just to annoy Roswell. :D

It'll take a fair amount of time and money, but I reckon it'll be worth it.
