3.7 GTA with supercharger - do you really think that the 147 can handle nearly 400hp.

It will be an interesting project to see how long it lasts.

Not sure that I would bother spending all the extra cash over and above the standard GTA – not in the UK at least.

I guess you are going to be getting very friendly with your local tyre shop and petrol station.

Enjoy

If you have the money you could just get an Autodelta 147 with 3.7 litre V6

http://car.kak.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=news&file=article&sid=1428&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

"London-based design and tuning house Autodelta is to unveil its latest and most powerful creation, the 328bhp Autodelta Alfa Romeo 147 GTA 3.7 V6, at the MPH03 Motor Show (11-14 December, Earl's Court, London). Based on the quickest hot-hatch developed by Alfa Romeo to date, the Autodelta Alfa 147 GTA is the result of extensive mechanical modifications to the current standard model, in order to enhance the latter's sporty character.

Autodelta's Alfa 147 GTA is powered by a bored-out version of the existing 3.2 V6 unit, with engine capacity now up to 3750cc, delivering 328bhp at 7300rpm and capable of reaching 175mph. New steel billet camshafts, a Ferrari-derived larger throttle and suitable re-mapping of the engine all quicken driving response and help achieve performance levels not found in any other current sports hatchback.

A bespoke stainless exhaust system, with new manifolds at the front and quadruple tailpipes at the back give the new engine a wide breathing range: 260lb ft of torque at 4700rpm are at the driver's disposal, and the rev redline stops just short of 8000rpm.

A limited slip differential (with 30% progressive lock) has been added to the package - the standard Alfa Romeo 147 GTA does without it - to help transform the extra power into tarmac-gripping performance via a new, stronger clutch, and custom-built 7.5 x 18" light alloy wheels wearing 225/40 tyres.

Autodelta has also upgraded the suspension set-up, with uprated bushes, height-adjustable dampers with new coil springs and revised geometry settings for maximum body control.

Stronger, heat-treated brake discs with special compound pads have been added to cope with the extra power.

Autodelta's own styling and manufacturing arm Creativestudio, has given Autodelta Alfa Romeo 147 GTA a new, distinctive and even sportier look by adding a specially designed lightweight bonnet complete with air vents. The rear bumper, now housing a quad tailpipe exhaust, has undergone more substantial changes. The overall impression is one of strength and overtly sportiness, to reflect the nature of the car's enhanced performance and power, whilst every effort has been made to respect and maintain the Alfa Romeo image and character intact.

Autodelta 147 GTA is strictly customer-built, and each vehicle will have its own plaque carrying the serial number."

I don't think it exactly needs supercharging, in fact I'd go as far and say that without 4wd it would be absolutely undriveable.
I'd suggest cutting back on the Brown Ale Alistair :D

it makes sense i suppose putting that much power to the front wheels

so my options are

a 3.7 ltr conversion

b standard Gta then some tuning and a supercharger

c both and see if i survive more than a day

d both, and see if theres anywhere i could get a 4wd conversion

dont think d is an option really frown

The Autodelta 147 GTA is supposedly something new and is not just a bored out motor but a complete kit -body kit, uprated brakes, LSD etc
I do not know if you turn up with your car and they then modify it or order the complete car via them. Supposedly being relaesed at MPH03 Motor Show (11-14 December, Earl's Court, London

Well nothing exceeds like excess and the UK Autodelta coversion with all the bits certainly is excessive wink

If you wish to have a Q-car then a 3.7 motor without any Autodelta labelling on engine etc, uprated brakes
and no extra body kit would be the way to go. However the twin exhausts would be very nice indeed :D

In fact the twin exhausts should be on the standard GTA

Standard 147 GTA and spend the rest on a track day car.

OR 147 2.0 TS and Alfa SZ

That way you can enjoy the best of both worlds without killing yourself.

I have driven a couple of 350+ bhp cars on the road and although it is fun, I can guarantee that I wouldn't survive more than a week.

The Auto delta 166 2.0TS with supercharger develops 200HP AND has better econmy than the std 2.0TS - why dont AR do this themselves?

Anyway, supercharger option could reduced the fuel bills, and as its a bolt on bolt off affair, you could remove it and ad it to the 147 4WD when it arrives in 2005!!!!

Mind you if you have enough dosh, then you could get a 4WD system engineered. Or prob get a Lambo Murcielgo awd for the same dosh!!!!
