V6 remap MPG increase?

Howdy folks,

Right, excuse my general ignorance, but I'm calling on those who have had Alfatune's 3.0 V6 remap.

Now I've read much on the postitives on this, so that's not in question, nor is my wanting to get it done ASAP!

One minor question is this: does it save much on fuel, if at all, compared with standard tuning?

Reason I ask is that I'll be changing job shortly and doing a longer distance to work. Now I will be able to afford to run the GTV to work still every day, but I was pondering that if Gus' map gains an extra couple of MPG, then I might stump up the money sooner so I can reap a bit back sooner.

Thanks for reading this most boring of posts/questions,

James.

Google "GTV REMAP" plenty of places to help you out even mobile services.
You stand to gain more HP and better economy as when cars are produced they are given a very vague MAP to read from, so the ECU guru's can put a more refined MAP which will take into account our different climate altitude etc etc this equals out to
More MPG
More BHP

First one out of the hat is.................

To be honest remaps on normally aspirated cars are typically worth the bother as the power gains are marginal.

Using the car everyday aside from racking up the miles will take some of the shine off it. I had to use mine everyday for two weeks whilst the other German variant had to have the ABS pump sent off for repair. At the end of the two weeks it didn't seem as fun to drive at the weekend as I'd used it everyday for work.

As above get a cheap run around for work save the GTV for Funtime only

I have had 3 Alfatune maps/chips, there is a very good chance if driven sensibly that you may gain a few mpg's.
I had 'driveability' maps/chips they brought the power in earlier and much more progressively,
I know on my V6 155 12v at a steady 60mph going to Scotland i got the best part of 40mpg.

Same car being thrashed round Scotland, low teens

I've still got the remapped ECU & codebox/keys from our old GTV 3.0 V6 CF2, its currently for sale as I don't think I'm going to get another GTV V6 anytime soon. It did feel torquier than my 2nd GTV V6 thats for sure. Never bothered working out the economy though.

To be honest, I've run a V6 GTV every day for over 3 years now, and it's still as special every time for me. I'm not bothered about mileage as it's not something I intend to sell on, it's for my pleasure only, if I do sell in future then so be it, but I'm not just going to use it occasionally. I want that theatre every day :)

I'm just starting my 3rd year of using my GTV V6 as my daily driver; it had 70k on the clock when I got her, and we are now on 104k; 34,000 of the most enjoyable miles I have ever driven. I've spent about 3k in 2 years getting the usual stuff sorted and I expect about another ÂŁ1500 this year for belts, some bodywork tidying, engine detailing & Q2/Quiaffe; but every time I look at her I know it is worth every penny!

And at the weekend, I make it even more special by giving her some TLC before going for a pose around to see how many looks she gets.
