AFAIK, the ECUs models are the same across the range. For a while, it would be adapting to the sensor parameters, working out what the hell has happened (probably causing it to under-perform).

Doing an ECU reset will clear all this, and it will re-learn 1.6 parameters and drive like it did before.

Short answer: don't waste your time :lol:

 

When people ask advice on the forum,why give them an answer when you don't know yourself?
The ecu's are different and the it will even flag up errors as the 1600 has one less sensor.

 

Fairy snuff. I'd heard of at least 2 that were swapped between 1.6's and 2.0's though...

Edit: Or vice-versa. One was a 1.6 into a Selespeed with a 7.3.1 ECU (with a variable inlet manifold fitted)

 

I heard that the 2.0 and 1.6 (120HP) are identical in terms of wiring looms and sensors but the 105 HP 1.6 is different .
so if someone wanted a 2.0 engine in a 1.6 ,120 HP 147 , it would be a straight swap and only the mapping would have to be changed to suit the 2.0 engine .

Is this info correct or did someone make it up?

But what exactly do you want to do?

 

It was just a thought.
I thought it might be a simple peformance upgrade , thats only if it adds any peformance at all .

I know there isn't much you can do with a 1.6 but I have considered changing the engine to a 2.0 at some stage ,
So if i do change to a 2.0, the 2.0 ECU will already be installed.

Ah ok , So the 2.0 inlet manifold obviously fits the 1.6 which brings another question up.

If i just added the 2.0 inlet manifold without a 2.0 ECU , would this be worth doing if I want a little more power .
I think gotcha put a 1.8 inlet manifold on a 1.6 and he said it made a noticeable difference in power.

 

Maybe it would be worth it for me to try it out if no one knows how much of a difference it would make with everything else stock standard .
I'm a little confused on the variable intake thing , are all 1.8 to 2.0 intakes variable of not , which ones are and which aren't?
