Nothing special for me, an indicated 125mph in my old GTV twinny

 

i was cruising home tonight at a steady 71mph thinking to myself that i am actually breaking the law, so i slowed down to 70 and felt a warm glow of smugness about me......

or was it that i had just wet myself :doh:

i've been up to an indicated 130mph, my gps tells me that my speedo reads about 5mph too high though so in reality it was probably 125mph

all on my private test track of course. i'd love to go on a quiet stretch of autobahn and see what she's really capable of though. official figures for the JTS say 137mph, i think i'd need a bloody long bit of autobahn to get that high

 

i did an indicated 125 in mine, so 120 going by the gps, and it got there pretty rapidly and pulling strong, says my top speed is 129, think it may be a bit more.

did an indicated 155 in my stilo at the ring, and that was 5mph out too. top speed on paper was 137

As a Greek, I am ashamed that Gatso(nides) was of Greek descent! Isn't it sort of paranaoid that cars get quicker and safer, the roads are getting better and the speed limits are reduced? There is a rumour that even in the Autobahn eventually they will bring them down

 

my 156 is the first car ive had were the speedo is always spot on with the gps, i find other cars normally have a 5 - 10 % hugher readout on the speedo.

as far as top speed is concerned i know its higher than a jeep :lol:

 

My Brera has reached its book'd 140 Mph, pretty sure there was a bit more in him though!

 

I set the cruise on the GT to a gps indicated 150 mph in Germany last year but the car defo had more to give. It felt surreal:wow:

 

Alfa Romeo 156 V6: 130MPH
Alfa Romeo 156 2.0i Twinny: 115MPH
Alfa Romeo 2 Litre GTV Twinny: 130MPH
Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo: 140MPH

 

I'll think you'll find the 156 2.0 has the same top speed as the GTV

 

120 mph in my 1.6 147

 

I reached indicated 205kmh in my 1.6 TS so the declared 195 kmh are easily believable. But to be honest it needed the same time to get from 190 to 205 as from 100 to 190

 

603 mph according to Mr Garmin in my 1.9 Jtd

 

In the 156 V6, maintained 150mph (indicated)on a German autobahn with a bit more to give, especially on downhill stretches. Backed off when I noticed the fuel gauge in 'freefall' :lol:.
Coaxed 125mph (again indicated) out of the 147 but the last 10 were hard work and I was in danger of overshooting my exit from the motorway in the search for anything more, .
So far in the 159 I've only seen 130 as there's a vibration that increases with speed which has now been traced to a slightly out-of-round alloy on the nearside front, . They were acquired in a 17" for 18" swap with a guy who found he didn't like the 'harsher' ride (his opinion) with the bigger wheels - I guess he'd previously also found a pothole with them, .

140mph in the 145, reached the end of 5th near enough! Already hit peak power and about 1krpm after.

 

I got up to 40 MPH in an ARNA once !!!!.....:lol:

 

Did you push it off a cliff?

 

Younger readers on here may want to ask their Parents / Grandparents, just WHAT the Hell an ARNA was !!!!!......:lol::lol:

 

Whilst the rest of us may want to ask "why the hell did they put an Alfa badge on it?" :tut::lol:

 

Got 125mph outta the 146 with about 500rpm left in it. Which is 120mph according to the satnav which aint bad at all for a lil 1.4

 

I think some of you guys are telling porkie pies!?

 

I'm not, I really DID get 40 mph out of an ARNA !!!!!!........

 

I'm not anyway.

 

126mph and still accelerating in a 33 16valve. Trouble was the large gap I had found to attempt this top speed run had disappeared and I was passing people like they had selected reverse :lol: so backed off for safety reasons.

And if the plod are reading this I live in Germany and am a convicted liar.

Indicated between 155 and 160 not doing it again, got a massive chip on the leading edge of my bonnet that track day :rant:

 

134mph indicated, in my 155, on the autoroute de soleil!

About 120 is as far as I got before backing off as that was fast enough. Was still pulling though and I am sure I could have nudged over 130. Doubt I will find out though. Once at that speed is enough till the next car. Have been in a Scooby (the one in pic below as it happens) at 155 and I do not fancy traveling at that speed again in a hurry it is a strange experience doing more than double the speed of other cars + lorries. Like they are standing still but you know they are not.
