I've had my 1.4 MA TCT for a few months now, and have passed the 10'000km. To my disappointment, I'm getting an average of only 26 mpg (and even less if I keep the AirConditioning on!), and I've been driving more than half of my mileage in highway. So do you guys think this could be normal? I rarely switch to D mode, it's mostly on N. I have the 18'' 5-holes that I assume is a reason for lower mpg, but this much?!

I also asked a dealer last week, the guy told me it's normal for 1.4 MA!! But it's far below what's advertised, especially for TCT! Shall I go find another dealer and ask?

Other than that, the car and the drive is superb :)

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

From my experience with my TCT, the consuption greatly varies depending on the road, speed and driving style... It seems I get the best figures driving on country roads with average speed of 70-80km/h. In those conditions I get about 6.8lt/100km. Driving on the highway with speeds about 140km/h, I get about 9.1lt/100km.

This is exactly why i did´t bother with an MA 170 hp.
I have better figures in my QV than some of you guys have in your MA´s
You should check your figures by measuring brim to brim, the cars figures variates to much to be precise.

1.4 tct mpg

Hi I have had my Giulietta 1.4 TCT a couple of months, second hand, with low milage. I have have had 45 mpg on leisurely cross country trips, generally including some town work it seems 40-mpg. I rarely use D mostly N. I have noticed that at around 50mph is about when 6th gear kicks in. When I am in a 50 limit just under that speed I nudge the stick in to 6th when I'm not trying to press on. :)

I've done 6,750 miles in my 1.4 MA TCT which has 17" wheels. I always have a/c on and drive mostly in N. Average fuel economy over the last 1500 miles is 33 mpg. Most of my mileage is cross-country and short local trips. My guess is optimum mpg is achievable at a steady 55-60 mph and worst on short local trips.

I was annoyed by the shortfall in mpg from the published figures until I learned that this is widespread across makes and models. The real problem is the EU test specification used to measure mpg by manufacturers. This is not even remotely representative of real-life driving. Same here. Although I'm pretty sure my right foot has some influence.

I get between 9.5l/100km - 11.5l/100km. Drive mostly in D and don't like being last at the traffic light.

On my last long trip to Spain I got a best of about 8.5l/100km...

I'm gonna see if the chiptuning did anything soon!

Despite the newer diesel technology, my sub 5000km 2.0L JTDm G is running around the same 5.8L/100km on a long country run as my old 2006 VW Golf 2.0 TDI. In the city, its average seemed to be higher than my old Golf. A bit disappointed but wondered whether the 18" 40 profile tyres have something to do with it too. Those Italian-Euro consumption data seemed to be more liberal than the German-Euro data.

I have only had my TCT a few hours but already clocked up quite a few miles and averaged 41mpg, pretty happy with that so far. Most of it was motorway/A roads in N mode. Tested out D a few times. So far though Im pretty impressed :D I would be disappointed with 25MPG too. I understand if you wanted the best MPG figures the 1.6D would have been the better choice but when buying a new car but the reason I chose the 1.4MA was that I was bored of the diesel noise of my Bravo. The 1.4MA is much more refined and knew I would take a slight hit economy wise but I would be fuming if getting 26MPG with the figures Alfa claim.
