Squeegee for drying your car??

Last time I went for one of Bradford's Finest Foamiest Handjobs, they used a squeegee thingy to remove all the excess liquid that was left.

Does any one here use them?? They used it all over my body, not just my windows, which I was surprised at, but it seemed to do the job much quicker than a chamois. They then just leathered the last few dribbles.
What do you reckon? Quick and easy, or likely to scratch your body??

I use one and it's fantastic. Much better than a chamois. As long as you've cleaned it well, and you rinse off the blade there's nothing present to scratch it.

I just got it from a car accesories shop. Called a HydraBlade I think.
If I remember rightly, it was Mr Spiderman mentioning them that made me look into buying it several months ago. It really does make you wonder why you ever sweated and cursed for half an hour while trying to chamois the car dry, it takes 2 mins and no effort at all. Fantastic.

Unless there's something you want to tell us Spidey, I was actually referring to the fact that Autoglym are HRH approved.

Oh god, off they go, Smut & Smutster.
You ask a perfectly reasonable question, about a product you may be interested in, and look what happens. It all goes down the gutter. Mind you, what can I expect when there's one bloke with his undies on the outside, and the other bloke used to have his undies in his Avatar...
   naughty wink
Next we'll have Mr.T stomping about in his skirt tossing his caber.
eek!

I have an Autoglym Hydrablade thingy but don't use it anymore. One little bit of grit got under thr blade and put a 10inch scratch down the car.

Fortunatly it was on my wifes car and has mainly polished out.

I'm back to using the old leather.

Suppose you could say the same thing could happen with either method but I haven't had a problem in 17 years with a chamy.

I also found it took me just as long because I still had to go round with the leather after I had used the blade because it left water in all the hard to get bits.

I would put the money towards a good large leather.

I got a turtlewax one from Halfords, and it really does work a treat! As long as you keep it clean while you're using it, and give it a wipe every now-and-then, you should find that it doesn't scratch at all.......and that goes for the squeegee too laughing eek! laughing

Summary - I wouldn't let one of those oiks loose on my car with a squeegee in Bradford in one of those ex-petrol stations. Because? They won't take as much care as you and just one piece of grit and.....
Secondly, if you are really careful, you are unlikely to get any grit on the squeegeeeee blade and up to that point it is great.....until you get a piece of grit and it scratches and the squeeeeegeeeeeee is smashed into 10,000 pieces.

But then you can get a bit of grit in a chamois leather too, especially when you drop it on the ground wink

I used to work for a car rental company, we used them there all the time, purely for speed to get cars wiped down quickly and out to customers etc, mainly they were good on the windows, but pretty ****e on the rest of the car as you had to leather the rest of the car down. stick with the leather and do a proper job if its your own motor  !
