Hi All,

Is it possible to get a 'simple' key for a GT? That is one that doesn't have the remote central locking buttons on. If so where's best & how much should I expect to pay? (I asked a local Alfa dealer the other day who said no)

Reason is I do a lot of dinghy sailing & there often isn't anywhere safe to keep a key other than in a pocket inside my wetsuit.

Thanks.

Some markets had a Valet key, which has no remote functions (so not able to set or unset the alarm).

I don't know if the 147/GT ever came with Valet keys, but that is what you would need to ask for.

Edit: just checked a GT Owner's Manual and Valet keys were given in some markets.

I tried this as only had one key when i bought my old 147 and i wanted a spare. In the end i bought a blank blade off ebay had it laser cut to match mine and put in a spare key (also off ebay) which would open close locks etc but not start the engine because it needed to be programed to the car. If all you need to do is lock the car then this would work.

Not a 156 key they cant. Type 2 immobiliser chip. Cant be cloned by anyone. Alfa know this and thats how they get away with ÂŁ300+ for a new key. The old type one (GTV etc i think) can be cloned. Try Timpsons if you want but it def wont do the imobiliser!

I've been thinking about this actually David.
Although they do have the correct keys, I think that they must already have pre-programmed chips inside them, so they would have to be coded into the car - instead of the code being cloned onto the new key (which is what I was initially and wrongly thinking).

I'm aware that the Code1 system wasn't in the 147/156/GT, I was talking about the later internally cut keys from the later system. As I say, they do have these, so there must be a way of doing them.
