I am consedering in Removing the DPF and disable the EGR valve from my 159:mad:. Has anybody here has done this before? If yes what are the goods and the bads points in doing so. Who would you recommend me to go to?
Honest opinions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks fellas

I have forgotten to explain that my is already remapped. If I went ahead in Removing the DPF and disable the EGR valve, do I still have to remap it again? If yes, aren't I forcing the engine to throw some errors?
Please explain me all about it as I can't wait any longer in removing them

To briefly answer your question, this should / will need to be done inconjuction with a remap

PROs
More powerful & importantly much more driveable car
More MPG
None of the common issues of DPF clogging, Regens or EGR valve failures
Mod Fully Reversible

CONs
More smoke / soot emissions on full throttle
Invalidates warrantly / Insurance Declaration Issues (visbile modification as opposed to the 'invisble' remap alone)
Expensive modification (Circa ÂŁ720 for the more reputable tuners on here)

Conclusion

If you can live with the cons then get it done as it totally transforms the way the car performs.

I echo everything Chris has said. Due to your location I would go to AHM to get it done.

I cannot comment on other remappers but from personal experience I would recommend the use of NJS in Pershore. Very knowledgable chap who took the time to fully explain the pros and cons etc.

What Neil did also state was that some of the remaps out there can invariably cause problems. In that some of the performance gains on the 'problem remaps' are acheived by simply turning off the torque limiter settings, so that you get full torque low down, the problem being this puts excessive strain on engine components and results in premature failure.

In addition he explained that some of the 'problem remaps' are very generic and just result in the fuel pressure being increased, and the consequence of the overfuelling leads to DPF clogging issues etc. (hence you tend to hear a few complaints about DPF issues where certain tuning boxes are fitted).

I was comforted by the knowledge that none of the cars they had remapped had suffered any premature component failures. I still opted for the slightly less aggressive map of the ones being offered as I wanted to minimise the potential for any failure issues.

Well, I've literally just dropped the car off and I'm writing this on the train on the way home.

Motormech are also agents for Longlife exhausts and they've given me a good price on a double stainless cat-back to replace my weedy single pipe. They're also going to give the car a small service and have a look to see why the gearshift can be a little stiff sometimes.

Because that's quite a lot of work I'm not going to get the car back until Thursday. I'll report back then...

I bought a '09 Jap diesel recently and I thought " 'uckme this is quick" Anyway I was wizzing along one day seeing how fast it would go. The speedo said 142 and suddenly the car lurched and went into 'system check' aka 'limp mode' . I took into the dealer as its still under warranty and they reset it. The printout showed it was doing 138 when it went into limp mode and was due to overpressure.
Unfortunately-and heres the rub-it turns out the previous owner had the car re-mapped(ÂŁ300) but when the dealer reset it the map reverted to standard and now it feels as flat as a flat thing from the flatlands plus the mpg has gone from 50 to 46. Bugger.
A lesson for us all I think.

Cheers persky. I'm afraid I miss obvious things a lot more easily nowadays.
As I live in Rugby, Brum is not so far.
Have been trawling and come up with two other places that are recommended. Alfatune (Gus) and AHM. And now you've chucked in Motormech. It's a dilemma who to go to so look forward to your comments on the results and the company.

Just a very quick update as I'm at work...

Car totally transformed! Heaps and heaps of power. No low rpm flat spots anymore - just a mountain of torque from about 1300 rpm and it pulls like a ballistic train from 1500 rpm upwards.

I'm already noticing good mpg as well. I think it's due to the cars new ability to pull from low rpm - you can keep the car in 4th around town safe in the knowledge you won't have to change down to pull away.

Totally loving it.
