Old computer busted, new one got, but have I stuffed myself yet again?

Yep the missus at last allowed me to get a new computer so was feeling pretty chuffed, until I saw that Windows 8 is in the pipeline.

: So do you techie guys reckon my latest acquisition will be redundant shortly? Shan't be able to afford another for yonks on my measley pension!

Don't worry about it. Win 7 will serve you well for many many years. Win 8 is not going to bring you a large number of new features, health or happiness.

100 is right, no major changes, I think windows 8 it's Microsoft getting ready to have a crack at the tablet market. Windows 7 will be about for a while

I think that (and hope too) Windows 7 will be around as long as XP was. It's a good operating system and deserves to be around for quite a while.

Download the beta version of Windows 8 if you fancy a look at it... I wouldn't bother, it looks kind of rubbish on a laptop to be honest

Those tablet 'tiles' just won't work on a pc.
