If I get the 2.4 JTD Sportwagon I've been looking at, wheres a good ( and reasonably priced ) place to get the tune upgraded ( if possible in London or thereabouts )

Its a 2001 model, so I assume 150 BHP version. What sort of benifit can I expect. Any downsides or things to watch out for?

cheers all:) :)

AHM in hartley whitney (he gets the maps from a tuning company in Holland I believe) ... (just down the M3) ... got my '52 plate done there, on the rolling road it went from 157bhp to 209bhp!!!

downsides ... you'll need a new uprated clutch sooner or later ...

Don't assume if its important to you, it could easily be a 140 BHP. In fact, a 2001 is probably a 140 BHP.

as for 140 vs 150, the 150 version as the updated dash (all silver)

my JTD was remapped about 3k ago and the clutch is still fine (this clutch as now done getting on for 100k!!!) ... I've just got it in my head to budget for a new uprated one ...

Yes it only takes a couple of minutes to download the file onto the ECU, however it's the work put into creating this file in the first place that takes the time, so basically they are just recouping there initial outlay ...

That's just red dot ... btw if you do go for red dot, as an AO member you get a discount ...

I put on a set of Koni FSDs/Eibach Pro Kit Springs and Red Dot Discs/Pads all round ... but just for a remap you don't need to do anything, apart from pack some toilet paper for when you go and collect your car (mine scared the cr*p out of me first time I drove it post-remap!!!)

It should be a 140bhp on a 2001.

On the red dot rollers it probably wouldn't produce 140, they usually come in a few bhp under that, they should easily get you 190bhp, maybe a little more.

Mine got 204bhp (up from just under 140), but it does have other hardware mods to help it breathe a little better.

Chris did well with his, a 52bhp increase is very good.

Or put the registration into an on-line insurance quote, it might tell you on there if it's a 140 or 150bhp version.
They're not accurate, my 136 comes up as a 150, I tried to correct the insurance people when I first took out a policy but they were adament (didn't help that they couldn't really speak English) ... not that important really.

Have a look for the engine code on a plate on the slam panel. 839A6.000 is the 140,841C.000 is the 150

If it's a 2001 it will be 140bhp - the mild facelift (silver dash with integral radio, colour coded bumpers and mirrors) only came out mid-2002 and that's when they went to 150, but don't worry it's basically the same engine and you will get similar remapped results.
