Have you scanned for the bluetooth interface in MES ? Is it showing ? What error message are you getting ?

Not up on the background to removing this termination resistor, I doubt that is the real problem on G. Is it a very old ELM327, MES needs at least 1.3 OBD2. You'll also need to buy an MES licence, the G modules are not accessible in the free version.

Hi,
Your is 150 or 170 bhp?
Which ECU did select from the list of ECUs. I am also facing the same issue, not sure if its coz i might have selected the wrong ECU from the list offered by alfaOBD.
I have the 1.4 tb 170bhp 2012.
Continuing to check further.

The OP hasn’t been seen since May 2022, so you may not get a reply.

You should be able to just try the various ECU listed. From MES it appears that there are six possible ECUs for the 1.4 petrol, but two of those are Euro6 (both Bosch Me17.3.0) so I don’t think they would be on a 2012 car. That leaves four to choose from for Euro5 cars. If you can, I would try each in turn and see what happens. If it’s the wrong option the app should just refuse to connect, I’d have thought. Or, if AlfaOBD allows it, scan for available ECUs (MES allows this).

Thanks Iron Wizard, will check the ECU under bonnet as well.
I meanwhile tried today with all the most possible ECUs listed for the petrol 1.4 variants, it constantly keeps disconnecting or gives me error saying put the key in right position etc.
I was trying without the Yellow adapter till now. Have it on order, hopefully, with the yellow adaptor, it should work fine.( I was of the impression, to connect to the ECU, one doesn't need the yellow adaptor.)

My understanding is that the yellow adapter is only needed for access to the ABS, body computer etc, but not the engine ECU. The MES website lists the adapters required (A3 is the yellow adapter), and I can’t see why that would only be for MES as the point of the adapter is to change the connections to the OBD port. So I would say no adapter needed, but I could be wrong.

When I used my WiFi adapter on the Giulietta I had to modify it by snipping out a resistor on the circuit board. I won’t pretend to understand the reason, and I can’t now find the instructions for doing it. The adapter had worked fine in my old 156 prior to that.

There is a thread about AlfaOBD and adapters here in case you’ve missed it AlfaOBD - ELM that actually works

Just to mention that I bought a £9.95 ELM from Amazon and only tried using after a year. Tried all sorts and it didn't work. Contacted them and they just sent a replacement. Worked pretty much first time and has worked on multiple phones using CarScanner free I think. Not fully utilized it so can't guarantee how well it works across the functions available, but it stays connected etc.
