Morning gang, I've used Multiscan several times without a problem. I've downloaded the latest version (paid license) today and it's throwing up a connection problem, which I haven't had before.
This is the message:

these are the connectors I have:

Does anyone have any ideas what the issue might be? I've checked loads of the old threads, but can't find an answer and at the moment I don't trust driving the car any more after it stranded me at a funeral and I had to call out the RAC for the first time in 40 years!

I’m still fighting with the FTDI driver installation, I use Macs and have bought a Windows laptop specifically for Multiecuscan and it’s not what I would call intuitive!

There are three com ports and they don’t appear to have identities, ie; com 1, 2 or 3, but I’ll battle on and will report back as soon as I get it working.

Thanks wbanham, I have three com ports on the laptop and it doesn't tell you which is which, I guess I just have to shut down the programme and keep trying each port!

MES scan works perfectly and gives me a report on the engine, but when I try to connect to the body, it says there is an error...I'll keep trying tomorrow, I've spent four days messing around with this and I'm wondering if I'll ever get it sorted!

Are you confusing the USB ports (physical) on your laptop for com ports (electronic) in device manager?
However if you can connect to the engine ECU (assuming you are not in demo mode for that) as suggested that would suggest your port is set up ok but could be an issue with the latencies. You shouldnt need the yellow adapter for those modules.
This thread may assist re set-up - MES set up

think I see the problem, the instructions didn't include steps for a new setup, try this.

- In MES settings, Interfaces tab.

enable 'show available COM ports only' box
click 'Scan for Interfaces'

set the interface type to one of the ELM327 (USB) options, set serial port to COMx and baud rate to 38400.

click the Test button. The screen output should say "This interface is compatible with ELM 327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules."

---
body computer usually requires a coloured adapter.

Crikey this is a pain, I wish I hadn’t updated my MES software!
Ive got it to scan for modules and it’s thrown up a code for the engine, which I knew about but it won’t allow me to connect to the body computer, it throws up this:

then when I do a scan for the CAN connection this comes up:

do you think it could be the cable?

If previous MES version with same ELM adapter was working with Body ecu and now not with new MES version, it could be new MES version bug.
If ELM connects to engine ecu ok, then it's not.
Anyway check MES option, interface speed, for engine ecu should be 38400, for Body try 57600 and 115200.

Well, I’m still struggling with MES.

I’ve scanned and tested the interfaces, the connection is working well at 38400, tried the other speeds, but it wouldn’t connect.

When I scan DTC it connects, but only picks up on the engine.

It connects to the engine, no problem, but anything else like ABS,Dashboard or Body and the canbus error pictured above comes up.

Heres the interface screen, for reference.

oh, simulation works fine as well, if no one has any other ideas, I’ll have to call on my local AO member and see if his MES can sort it!

I’ve removed the resistor and no change, connects to the engine but no other modules, so I’m ordering the latest Multiecuscan modified ELM connector and walking away from the car for a few days!

Thank you all for taking the time to respond, I really do appreciate it.

once the new connector arrives I’ll give it a try and report back.

And in answer to your question ceecao, yes, it worked flawlessly with the previous free version of MES, but I upgraded the lates version due to the time constraints on the old one.

If you want try this: Fiatecuscan 3.4.2 free, you don't need even uninstall MES. Setup ELM, port and go.
