Hi guys,

I've been having a problem recently with the engine power cutting out for a second and then recovering. This seems to happen under hard acceleration in no specific rev range. I don't think it could be the engine being cold, since I drive extra conservatively until the temp reads 90ºC. I took it in and the dealer checked the ECU which reported no problems.

Anyone else have this problem or have an idea how to fix it?

Thanks,

The car is coming up on 1 year old and has around 23000km on the clock. When did the firmware update come out? also it is not immediately after a gear change. I can be rolling along in 3rd and then put my foot down. things will build nicely and then no power for a short time

Hi guys,

Sorry for not replying in a while. Thanks for all the tips. I don't think it is turbo lag. For one this is a new behaviour, turbo lag would have been there from day 0. Also it is not that there is no power and then I hit some rev and there is power. Revs will be building and turbo gauge will be full and then for a moment there is nothing and then the power & turbo are back.

Also to update:- It is does not cut out for as long a period anymore, but it is at a higher frequency. ie. it used to be:- rev... cut....... rev..... Now it is rev.cut.rev.cut. This means it is less noticeable as a jerk, but feels like a far less powerful engine.

I will take it in and ask them to check the coil packs and turbo pipes, the problem is the garage is 150km from my house and there is a petrochemical industry strike in ZA at the moment, so I don't wanna risk a long trip.
