Hi everyone.

My girlfriend and I have been looking at getting a second hand Mito 1.3 JTD from 2009, with around 43.000 miles on it.
How do they generally hold up in the long run? :) Does anyone here own a 1.3 jtd, with a lot of miles on it, and if so, what kind of problems have you experienced?

Also, is it possible to do simple things on the car yourself, like servicing it, changing oil, air filter, brakes, etc.? Or does that require some sort of dealer software to reset the service lights and stuff?

And another thing, are there some general problems with the car that you should look for, when you inspect it before purchase?

I just got a 59 TB155 with 30K and interior still looks great and outside is in very good condition too. I love the car but I don't find it specially comfortable on long runs as the suspension is quite hard and the car is quite short wheel base.
I think you could do most of the servicing but I am not sure you can reset service lights and stuff like that without a computer. There are plenty of independent dealers who can service the car for very little and they can reset the lights.

Well... I'm from Denmark, so it's VERY hard to find dealers who do anything for very little. Cars here are unfortunately very, very expensive! :-( The 1.3 diesel Mito we've been looking at, from 2009 with 43.000 miles on it, is for sale for around 10.000 gbp.

But is it possible to reset the service lights and stuff using a standart laptop, or an OBD reader or something, which you can get your hands on?

Hey a, I've got a metallic red one for sale if you are interested, I have a company car now so it's sitting unloved! It's going on auto trader tonight so shout up if you want dibs. This is the first alfa I have had and it's been great, I've told my company I'd rather keep my alfa but they don't do an opt out :(

All I can say is that as a girl...I found it easy to put oil in, put screen wash in and change lights. My sisters husband has had a look at it and he said it's a very simple engine.

Car: 2010 metallic red, 1.3 diesel, 55k miles, no known problems, good mot, tyres, tax etc....ÂŁ6725. ÂŁ10k is a rip off btw! Check out the current market...

You can perform servicing yourself if you have the know-how. But you will need to contact a dealer or garage to clear the 'service notification'. The braking is decent, the suspension is firm. On a decent road the car feels very fluent and sporty (even for a 1.3 diesel). Due to the firm suspension driving on a bad road the ride can be become hard and i feel the car loses a bit of 'sportiness'. Mine is a daily driver and i'm very happy with. It is quick and has good torque, I wish it had a little bit more but then again, it is a 1.3 and 95hp is pretty impressive.

D-mode is heaven, the turbo spools quick and the throttle response is great. I've had mine remapped to 115hp. I've only had two problems: 4 months after I got it the gearbox broke and was replaced. I also had a flat battery last year. When it is cold outside sometimes I can hear a slight squek but it doesn't happen very often.

My MiTo: 1.3 jtdm-² (95hp), Nero Etna, 80K Km, distinctive package and leather seats.
I have replaced the default stereo with a Pioneer. The default setup was good but I wanted more :).

Well, a broken gearbox seems pretty serious!
But it's great that your happy with the car  It's just too bad if you can't reset the service lights and stuff yourself...
Do you know if there are any particulare faults too look for, before buying the car? What "normally" breaks?
