No it wont connect, like banging my head against a brick wall. SEARS sent me another lead in case it was that, dont have a laptop and havent been able to borrow one since got new cable to test if it was that.

Think you need to jumper it not switch it-it says at begining of thread-on the other hand you appear to be connecting, so it could be ok how you have it.

I've made a jumper on pins 3 & 7 but with no luck on clearing airbag error. I've tried also KWP200test, and Unidiag but they don't connect when i change the ecu id to 0x00. I've also tried the demo version of Alfadiag, program seems to communicate properly with my intrerface, but i don't really know if i pay for the full version i will manage to clear the airbag error. I attach a print screen from alfadiag program with my ECU details.

I know, because most of the features are locked so there is no guarantee that will do the job. On the other hand KWP71 reads but don't clear the faults. I'm really stuck. By the way has anyone managed with latest ecu ME7.3.1 to clear airbag alarms with KWP71?

Me 7.3.1. does not do a thing with your airbag module... you need to connect to the airbag module
(alfadiag and unidiag do that) moeover your interface must talk to the K line airbag = pin 3

Actually my interface communicates with airbag system and gives me the error as described above. But when i press clear faults i always get ERROR. And i've managed to communicate only with KWP71, not with Unidiag. Do you have some special settings for Unidiag? For Alfadiag i don't know how to communicate. I have always jumpered pin 7 & 3.

I thought AlfaDiag and UniDiag DIDNT do airbag or ABS, Rarebear?

I'm back with good news. I've cleared the faults with KWP71. What i did?
I've made an installation with a fresh copy of Xp in my laptop (i've used an older spare HDD) instead of vista with all failed attempts. Also i didn't installed any additional programs like (Blackberry manager , ericsson/nokia suites etc.) BUT ONLY the drivers for USB serial adapter and set it to COMM port 3. I've run KWP71,0x00, kwp81??, open port, start comms (took 2-3 tries to identify), read faults, AND clear faults OK......:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yeh, on 3 different laptops. The driver update window just disapears after hitting "install"-nothing happened didnt say it installed or not. Same results for all 3 laptops.

What do you mean ("The driver update window just disapears after hitting "install" )?
All you have to do is to install the ftdi driver (for the usb serial controller) and to change the serial port (usually installed to com9 and higher) to a com port from 2 to 4. Look in device manager in USB controllers. Also in serial ports.

Even though with vista I've managed to connect with airbag ecu but i couldn't clear the faults!!!

The USB lead installs automatically and is ready for use without using the mini cd that comes with it.

Whenever I try and install the FTDI drivers and click on "install" or "ok" to install, the window just disapears. No "installation not complete" or "installation sucessful" message, it just disapears and thats it.

Youre left wondering whether it installed or not. And this is on 3 seperate XP laptops and I dont think its me either, as after it continually not working I got each of the 3 people whom I borrowed the laptops from to try it as well with the same results.

After 15 odd goes I have managed to connect, but it wouldnt clear faults and wouldnt connect to ABS or Airbag.

Worked with com 3, com 5, com 8, or com 9, depending on what mood it was in.

I suppose that in all laptops should be already installed the ftdi drivers by another usb to serial interface. Try to update the drivers from device manager.

Any ideas what's stopping me from opening comms anyone?

Hi Guys.... I've been following this thread for a while and when I started I had 2xGTV's. A '99 V6 (With airbag warning light on) and a '02 TS (With no issues). I thought I also noticed another thread that I've now lost which suggests modifying the cable rather than the port. So... I've ordered & recieved the cable and new connector and cut the old connector off and ready to put the new one on, but which way do i soilder them back?

The standard (OBDII extention) cable has the following pins (took a while to break the old connector down)
1 - BLACk
2 - BROWN
3 - RED
4 - ORANGE
5 - YELLOW
6 - GREEN
7 - BLUE
8 - PURPLE
9 - GREY
10 - WHITE
11 - BLACK + WHITE LINE
12 - BROWN + WHITE LINE
13 - RED + WHITE LINE
14 - ORANGE + WHITE LINE
15 - BLUE + WHITE LINE
16 - PINK

Seems a bit pointless now as ive swapped the faulty car ('99 V6), for a newer 147 But still want to finish the job!

I dont know what happened, but was it the rain or was it that i "shutted down the airbag light" with unidiag or what.
Anyway, my Ics just jammed, when i push the audio button nothing happens, when i push clima + dark i occasionally get the radio on screen.
I inserted the cassette and it doesnt come out anymore.

Everything happened last night, was it the rain or was it the unidiag?

Airbag light came off nicely though...

The modified cable I sell (and SEARS) does all functions, why ? I test the cable on my own 156 sele before
sending it !!! I do not use unidiag anymore (its good software ), but its a puzzle ! AD is userfriendly
