Hello Everyone

I have an Alfa 159 2.0 JTDM and today I observed a strange problem. After shutting down the car and removing the car from the key slot, I have noticed that the red light in the Key Slot never turns off and I keep earning noises from the dashboard. I also notice that the key slot light turns off after 1min but comes back again and the noises start again. I also got one time the error U1602 and the odometer keeps blinking. The last problem I solved by disconnect and connecting back the battery and clearing the code but I am wondering if the key slot problem could be somehow related.

Any Ideas? Is it easy to change the key slot? The car starts normally and I dont get any error when plugging the key in the slot. Looks like the car is trying to shutdown the key slot but can never do it.

Thanks a lot for any help!!

The odometer is flashing to indicate a 'CanBus' error. When the car is first started the circuits are all tested to ensure that the 'computer' that carries signals to the various devices is within tolerance. The way it signals a failed check is the flashing odometer.

The light on the Fob Slot is normal and indicates it is ready to accept the key. It stays live for a while after shutting down. But then the system enters a sleeping state to preserve the battery and the noise and lights stop.

That is exactly my problem. The light keeps blinking. Today I left the car 8 hours turned off and when I came I could still see it from the window. The odometer flashing i was able to recover by disconnecting the battery.

Looks like my car cannot go to sleep mode for some reason. I tried a proxy alignment but did not help.

Any other ideas?

Just ordered an used TEG reader. My mechanic suspects that there is some problem with it that prevents the car to fully go into sleep mode. I guess i need to do a proxy alignment after installing the new TEG. This problem is being quite anoying :(:( the car is consuming almost 1A after turning it off. Any ideas would be very welcome.

Today I conducted more experiments while the TEG reader does not arrive and I think the problem might something more general:
- I removed the fuse F32 which is "Driver’s door branch point/passenger’s door branch point/ignition device ". Of course with this the light is turned off, but I still hear the noise from climate control which indicates the car is not yet in sleep mode.
- Removed F39 (Supply + battery for air conditioner, ceiling lights, volumetric alarm,EOBD system diagnostic socket) and connect back F32. Now I see again the light from the TEG reader but the noise from the climate control is gone.

with that looks like the problem is more general. Then in a desperate try, I removed F31 which is the body computer. Still the light on TEG reader and Climate Controler Noise was still there. That was puzzling, I was expecting the light to turn off as the body computer controls that CAN as far as I know

I will try to re-charge my battery as I dont have more ideas right now.... just to be sure it is not a battery issue..........:bored::bored::bored:

Today I went to a Alfa Dealer but they said they need more time to find the problem. It is the first they saw this issue. However, I was analying again eLearn and if there were would be a bad grounding on the points C015 and C020, could that explaing the problem? Does anyone every seen those ground points? From the picture I cannot see it very clearly.

All replies would be very very welcome

I am really suspecting about those grounds. it is the only thing apart from the CAN bus I can see it is common to all modules where I see problems.
