Key Code and Service book

Hello!

Today I wanted to programm a new set of keys for my new to me Alfa Romeo 147 from 2005, and upon entering the key security code the laptop told me that the code is incorrect. Now here is the thing, I couldn't find the red card Alfa Romeo gives you when you buy the car, instead I entered the code I found in the service book of the car. Are the codes in the service book and the card the same, or is the code inside the service book only an example? This is the code I have in my service book, is it the same with the code you all have in the service book, meaning it is only an example?

Thanks!

If you get it free, please let us all know - normally they want a good fee to provide the information. :D

cf: Alfa Romeo/Fiat/Lancia Card Code, Alfa Restoration Online Shop

Note, if it is still incorrect you will need code retrieval, via an EEPROM dump off the body computer. You might be able to get the code from an ECU dump, but not certain.
Oh wow 117 euros for the code?!?!? That's a lot. I will sure let you know it I will get it free or not. Tomorrow I will go to the dealership and see.

That’s a question I’d like to be able to answer in more detail. Unfortunately not yet. You need the body computer in boot mode and the right tools to extract the dump. I think the people who do cloning can probably read that data.

€150 is still high. And I can’t see why it requires two weeks - last time for me was the difference between Aus time and Milan!

Online resources if you want to start learning are probably nefmoto, mhhauto, digitalkaos. Treat them a bit like right-wing American forums - join up, read the rules, introduce yourself if required then sit back and “absorb” before posting questions. They can be harsh on people who waltz in with presumptions.

That can solve keys, but to train more remotes you need the secure access code.

I’m one of those owners who like to have at least two keys. Three is better! If you only have one, you should always photograph the blade clearly and email the picture to yourself. Then it can be duplicated from the picture, and diagnostics does the rest.

I found a guy on Ebay from Belarus that would give you both codes for the price of 30 euros, does anyone know how he would

I have found a guy from Belarus on ebay that says that he can be able to retrieve both codes from my VIN. By taking a look on his page I can see that he does these kinds of stuff for all the cars, especially car radios. It costs 30 euros and I have money back guarantee in case he tries to scam me, should I give it a try?

You can see how harsh the forum’s regular members are on some new people!

I note also, by inference, the decryption algorithms are sorted - it is more a question of who can do the work at the right price. Any service relying on VIN must have either access to the official database or a crack. The linked thread crosses one item I had wondered about - apparently the VIN is not stored in the body computer! (Unless of course this is a deliberate mis-truth!)

I just confirmed, in the UK the PIN code can be retrieved by Pelican Diagnostics from a “bench read”. There may well be another firm closer to you but this is one possibility with two benefits - limited downtime and no question of whether (or not!) it’s the original BSM to the car.

There is no commercial benefit for me in identifying this company, they did a clone job and I asked only after it was all finished.

I don’t think there is an easy way. It sounds like some aspects of the encryption are quite “watertight”. This becomes a problem when a car has had all its modules exchanged with a donor of unknown VIN, as genuine keys can’t be ordered to program in. I honestly have difficulty sometimes filtering out the exaggeration, self-promotion from the facts in some of the decryption and hacking threads. It’s my suspicion that either the VIN or a unique production identifier shared across modules are concealed in the coding.

Yes, for a while this was a problem for PSA, you could get the key cutting code and PIN for £2!

Check the receiver aerial (small grey plug near BSM) is connected, check your transmitters with a signal tester.

Did you deal in what language - Русский/English/Deutsch?
I wrote with him in English. And the key works now, I just forgot to transfer the negative terminal from the old key case to the new one. Now it works fine! And Alfa wanted 1200 euros to replace all.....ugh
