How about pulling the headunit and trying
to disconnect the B&M from the rackmount?

 

Wondered about that thanks Nev, but reckon disconnecting the battery is easier and has less potential for scratching my lovely aluminium dash!!


Have spoken to the dealer who couldn't offer any simple shortcuts, but didn't grimace at the idea of me disconnecting the battery either. Will report back.

If i were you, i would download the latest software revision from the alfa site and that should give you the reset you need plus may fix the problem you have.

 

Please give the link to this download as i can't find it and I'm hoping it may solve my problem where Blue&Me fails to disconnect properly from the phone.

 

Disconnecting the battery earth sorted it. Made all the easier by the battery clamp being a quick release job so I didn't even need any spanners! Had to reset the time/date and windows afterwards, but at least all Blue & Me functions are restored!!

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I'm seeing the same problem as RicksAlfa in my new 159SW. I've got it booked into the dealer on Tuesday (only had the car two weeks) to take a look, but I'd like to get it working again before then if possible. I could disconnect the battery but I'm worried that if I do that a) the dealer won't be able to find the problem and b) it'll reoccur again the next day!

Anyone know if this is a known B&M software problem? Is it possible for me to install the update myself? I've tried installing the message reader from Alfaromeo.com - Starting Page and although the install appeared to work, I still have no steering controls.

I'm wondering if a reset will stop the media player starting everytime I start the car? Everything else has failed.

A 4GB memory stick should work fine. Is autoplay definitely off? Also, do you get the response "playback stopped" when you say "stop". The only other thing I can suggest is that I did read somewhere that you may need to refresh or change the media library to stop it playing whenever you start the car. I don't need to do this, but maybe try it once, so, autoplay off, use the voice command "stop", then try removing your memory stick and adding a couple of new tracks and see if that makes a difference.

Quick update on my issue - the dealer got my steering controls working (I suspect by disconnecting the battery) but now when I click the Voice Command button the lady in the dash says "No messages", which is a little strange. The dealer has order a new B&M controller so hopefully that'll sort it.

 

Now this is strange: my Blue&Me did EXACTLY the same thing this Sunday. I have no controls either and I can't even get my Mediaplayer running as I need the menu to activate this. Went to my dealer today and they couldn't figure out a solution. I will print this thread and suggest to disconnect the battery and see if that solves the problem.

 

I think it just gets it's knickers in a twist and needs rebooting.
It is Windows based after all!

 

And what do you know? My Blue&Me sorted itself out after just 1 week . Today I tried the voice control and telephone button and what do you know.........my Blue&Me worked like a gem. I can't explain why it didn't work for a week......but hey, it works fine now
