Is there a way to get the 155 Workshop Manual? That would save us all lots of money. It should list the resistance value for the sensor when hot and cold.

Where do we get the manual? I was once told you could get it at a store in London? SOme kind of Merchant Manuals.

Oh for the lambda, at idle when car is warmed up, it should fluctuate between 0.2-0.9v, Won't use original Bosch sensor since it's expensive. I use Denso ones. Saved me lots of dosh.

Cheers!

Just to confuse matters I have some different values for the engine temperature transmitter.

I believe this is a separate sensor to the one that operates the temperature gauge & high temp warning lamp but I might be wrong.

-10 degC 8100-10700 ohms
20 degC 2280-2720 ohms
80 degC 292-362 ohms

HI MIKE, ARE THESE VALUES FOR THE 2.0 16 VALVS. ENGINE ?
WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT IS FITTED THIS SENSOR ?
THE ONE THAT I SAY IS FITTED IN THE SAME THERMOSTAT.

the v6 one should be im55460 there is also a motoquipe one i dont have the number but most shops be able to cross referance it.dont rely on the resistance values to test them they often only fault at one perticular point you might miss the exact temperature it faults at.eg. if its ok at 10 deg and also at50 deg the fault could be at say 36 deg.they are only cheap so just buy one.

Jimybob

Spoke to the guy in my local dealership today and he said they use an oscilloscope to test them for exactly the reason you've given. Testing any other way is innacurate.

Thanks again :)

I think your right Jorge, they were the values for the motronic M2.10.4 as fitted to later twin sparks. Also there is only one sensor. My mistake eek!

Time for an update and a question.

Bought a sender today from the dealer, about ÂŁ25!!

It's part number 60605959 "sending unit".

Only trouble is I can't find anything like it under the bonnet :( The sender where I thought it should be has different coloured wires to the diagrams and the spade connections are at different angles. The new part has two connectors at 90 degrees to each other ie. not in line.

So, where is the temperature sensor located or have I got the wrong part?

sorry mate but its the wrong one..on your parts c.d you should look under fuel and exhaust.
the number is 7738223 ÂŁ26+vat.
and its on top of the thermostat.

cheers JB

   Spent bloody ages looking for that, at least I'm not losing it. Presume its the one on the right hand side of the engine block???

Wonder what I've got then

Hi Wrinx,
Don't worry you're not alone with this problem!
My V6 is doing nearly the same thing (i've read through all the posts on this).
The injection light illuminates for 2-5seconds on exactly the same stretch of dual carriage way, after accelerating upto about 75mph, then easing up on the gas. The light goes out quicker if I give it a quick boot on the gas though. :D
I'm getting all the same fault codes, only difference is the engine is "surging" under load.
Not replaced anything yet, just cleaned up connections and engine earth points so far.
Think I might start with the temp sensor this week.

Mark :)

Howdy fellas!!

This sounds suspisiously like the prob I had with me Lancia Delta. My thoughts a get a new sensor - genuine - all should be OK!! Was on mine!!

JB

Found the temp sensor on the parts Cd, think it is the right one (used my chassis number). Replaced it and the damn light came back on within 5mins of driving

Still don't know if its connected correctly as there is no indication of which wire goes to which connector  Does it matter?

This is really p***ing me off now!!!

im sure its NOT the right one it should have a socket(like an injector socket)on it and it should be blue or black.

Hi JB

Ok, on the front bank, right hand side there are two sensors, one with two spade fittings and one with a clip on blue injector type fitting. Presume thats what you're talking about???

The sender they have given me is nothing like either of them, I am now getting the warning light for a long time which I guess means it aint working at all!!!

Can you check this for me?
chassis number - 01031120
go to "cooling system", "water pump and lines",

its number 33 on page two, code 60605959........what have they given me?

I went to "fuel and exhaust system", "fuel injection system" but can't find the part number for the sender you quote anywhere!! Did the "shared parts" bit we spoke about on MSM and it comes up as a 156 and goes to a totally different page.

WTF is going on??? eek!

Guess I'm off to the dealers again tomorrow

Hi Wrinx,
Chill out before yer do yerself some damage! :D .
No seriously, I'm 99% sure the temp sensor's the one nearest the bulkhead (and higher up),with the blue connector, not the one with the two spades covered by a rubber boot (think that's for the temp gauge)
I've had a look at the parts disc, and its a bit confusing as both sensors look the same. I'll keep looking as I'm going to need one of these anyway.

Hope this helps,
Mark :)

Hi Mark

I'm chatting to JB on msm as I type, we are both struggling with the parts CD, you are right, looks like they've given me the temp guage sender not the water temp sensor!!

Me or JB will post if we find it

Hi Wrinx,
By a process of elimination is must be part no:7647004. What do you think?, there's no other unit on the page.
