I know this has been done to death on several other threads but here I go anyway…

I want to purchase an ipod kit for my 2005 GT. I have looked at all the various options that have been suggested on the other threads and decided to go with the Dension gateway 300 mainly because I have a CD changer and they supply an additional CD changer retention module plus you have full control of the ipod on the stereo and steering wheel.

I looked on densions official website and it shows the gateway 300 as being compatible with the Alfa GT (Dension - Compatibility) simple enough. However when I asked Ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk to confirm this prior to purchase they claim it is not compatible… There response was:
Unfortunately, no the Gateway kit is not compatible with your car. I would like to remind you here that I am talking about the European equivalent here.

Now finally, here is my question. Has anyone purchased the gateway 300 for a GT? I would be very grateful if you could let me know if there are any issues as i'm not sure if ipodcarkit.com are correct.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I too I`m thinking of the dension gateway 100 for iPod and the BTA2000 bluetooth for the phone, but would love a definative answer if this is compatible? The only details of head unit is an "Alfa 947/937 " with Bose, don`t have any info or pics on plugs/fittings? I would love to be sure before I commit to buying.

They say in their site that it`s compatible with the 147,156 Blaupunkt 937 unit?

Mine's running a Dension Ice>Link with the 937 High stereo and it works like a dream. Damn expensive for a cable but it works

Why can't Alfa/ Blaupunkt play by the rules everyone else play by and make the CD changer port compatible with a £3 cd changer - headphone cable. Why they force us down the route of buying a £100 'interface' I don't know.

I've just bought a dension gateway 300 for my GT, and it does indeed work.. But i'm fked if I know how to use it!

It seems it uses the cd changer slots to provide additional functions.. ie cd1 for playlista and folder, cd2 to scan artists.. Anybody got one and worked out how to select playlists, then skip tracks?

Also does mp3 tagging work? My firend who has a mini says his ipod shows a dension logo on screen and the mp3 id3 tags settings were turned on and off from the ipod. Is this true of the GT?

Oh.. And why does my volme change when I speed up and slow down!?

i don't know the answers to your other questions, but the volume-change is a 'feature' on early model GT's. it is designed to increase the volume to overcome ambient (road) noise.

i think you'll find a little microphone in the area next to the handbrake, in the front of the narrow/rectangular oddments bin.

i don't exactly know if you can disable the feature - i presume you can. or disconnecting the mic may achieve that (or it may need a modification to wire a resistor across the terminals).

ON my 147 with the same head unit (I think) it's the SVC option in the menu. As you say, it increases/decreases the volume with the speed of the vehicle.
Can't say I've noticed it really.

(If it works with the microphone, does that mean if your passenger keeps raising their voice to be heard, the radio will drown them out?:cheese: )
