i need your help and advice guys n gals  it's a bit of a long one so go get a coffee :cheese:
anyway it all started in november 08 when i visited car craft and bought my 156 baby! they managed to convince me to take the extended warranty with NAC and the guy assured me it would cover everything apart from the usuall tyres/bulbs etc, i trusted this sales man and went for it so this then added a few squids to my monthly repayments and all i had to do was service it every 6 months as they had just given it a full service and a 120 check, anyway i left happy as larry in my shiny alfa reg54, 2 weeks ago the car didnt feel right so i phoned them and they told me to take it to a local garage for inspection which i did and he told me the off side rear suspension bush had excessive play i phoned the warranty back and they told me it wasnt covered as it's down to wear n tare! ( after 5 months of buying it ) i argued this and later that day they phoned me back stating that i had breeched my terms n cons due to car not being serviced!! WTF!!! so they wouldnt cover it due to this and warranty was nul n void but i still have to pay for it for the remaining 5 yrs as ive signed the payment contract! phoned car craft and asked what was going on they just said well you are due for service now so bring it down and we will give you a full service for ÂŁ169 and then they will pick any faults up, did this so now i thought that i was up to date with service, all ok passed everything and all that was noted was airbag warning light, drove away this morning and the car felt worse! got half way and it got dangerously wobbly and shaky so i called recovery they towed me to local garage and mechanic said that the drive shaft had gone :( told him that ive just drove away from a full service and he went kinda funny saying ohh errr im surprised they didnt pick it up when it got serviced, the service states that it even gets test driven but they still didnt note down this excessive shackyness in the car or anything to do with the drive shaft! car craft fobbed me off saying that it has nothing to do with them anymore and deal directly with NAC i did and they said that even i serviced it this week it wont help it being null n void as i didnt service it after 6000mls which i wasnt even told, car craft said 6 months or 12000 whichever greater, plus also it hadnt been serviced previous 6 months ago, car craft said it had been but when i kept asking for the proof in nov they kept telling me it's in the post so i was stupid and believed them so left it at that, but now aparently they didnt so my warranty is useless, and they wont fix my car, should they have found this fault in the service and let me drive away with a dangerous car? not sure if i should take it further with carcraft or the warranty ppl now :( im at my witts end here as car craft is now either hanging up on me or saying they will phone back and also ignoring my emails :( im now stuck without a car and a huge finance i cant get out of, has anyone else had similar problems? any advice will be much appreciated:cry:   if anyone can help please please email me info@melsbrides.co.uk

Reading this i would say that car craft have, in their usual style given you less than accurate information.......

When you picked the car up you should have been given warranty paperwork, what does it say in there about service schedules? this is the info i would be going from.

Car craft were the ones who gave you the 6 months/12,000 miles info, i wold be going back to them, however because it was verbal i'm not sure how much luck you will have getting them to admit to it

good luck

easy.

You park opposite their showroom with a huge board on you car saying 'Car Craft are Crafty', and present leaflets to everyone that enters their showroom outlining your problems. Don't infringe on their premises, and call your local paper and tell them what you're up to.

Carcraft are a bunch of low life scum who ripe everyone off.
We brought a car form them once an L plate Rover 214sli (I know its **** we were uneducated at the time), the car was 5 years old with 31,000 miles on the clock. Went there looked at the car put a deposit down went for the warranty all seemed fine.

Went back a week later to collect the car :-
Turned up told "go to that office and pay and we will bring your car around" I refused to pay until I had seen the car, the spare wheel was missing so I needed to check if it had been replaced.
Whilst we were waiting I got talking to a guy waiting to pick up his car, he had arrived at 8:00 am and paid as asked was still waiting to see his car at 3:00pm, he had been dropped off and had no way of getting home.

The car never appeared after approx 1 hours I started to get *****y, went and found guy who had sold me warranty to get my deposit back, he told me "I only deal with warranty, you need to go to that office over there"

So I went to office over there got into an argument with a sales guy who asked me if I wanted to go outside (for a fight) another guy calmed things down and about 2 hours later our car arrived complete with spare wheel. We sorted all paperwork and eventually left about 3 hours later with our newish low mileage car.

Within 2 days we had problems getting the car to start, turned out to be starter motor gone (after 31K?) not covered by warranty. Couple of months later clutch went, not covered by warranty.

Had a flat tyre, went to put the spare on wrong f@cking wheel B@stards had put wheel from a different Rover in.
1 year in and the gearbox is knackered, got it checked by garage, 40 mile round trip, yep gearbox is knackered. Had to take car back to garage for assessor from warranty company to check it, then had to do another trip to take car to be fixed when they agreed to pay for it.

Gearbox repaired collected car, garage told us they had stripped box down and replaced worn bearings but 2 others were wearing but warranty company wouldn't pay to have them done at same time (we would have paid if they asked us!)

10K later the gearbox in knackered again, traded car against a Xantia, 80K on the clock ran it until 165K with no problems doing lots of stop start work my wife was a parcel courier, got ÂŁ1,250 for trade in cost us ÂŁ5,000 15 months earlier, glad to be shot of the piece of *****.

The garage that we traded it to contacted us later to investigate the mileage, was 60K when we sold it, so did trading standards.

So in my opinion Carcraft are a bunch of lying, thieving bast@rds, I would also put any car warehouse into the same category, my Alfa's both came from auctions (146 car auction, 166 Ebay) you may take a gamble but you save so much its worth the risk, mine are both fine and well worth the money I paid.

That's not good fluffy! Do as said above and read through your warranty T&C's front to back.

I've had an 'experience' with Car Craft Newport a few years back. I test drove a car but wasn't quite sure and didn't want to purchase it that day anyway. The salesman seemed to take offence to this and I had the full heavy handed sales treatment!! And at one point they wouldn't let me out of the showroom!! - all I wanted to do was ring my brother and get him to check the price in the Parkers Guide! I, for one, will never walk into one of their showrooms again

I hope you get this sorted and quickly

Never had extended warranty, and never will, as a gambler I just trust to luck and my own ability to assess the quality of a vehicle. Sure I have come unstuck a few times, but I think most of that which has gone wrong with a vehicle at a later date would not of been covered anyway? Right Royal Ripoffs in most instances I reckon. Good Luck, hope you become a winner with what has been suggested on AO.:):

Not much help but my experience of them was a salesman asking me why I walked into their showroom that day and not wanting to buy a car. I was younger and so a bit more cautious I said I'm coming for a look to see what I can get for my money have a look at the cars go away and have a think, his reply was when you want a tin of beans from Asda you dont go and have a look and go home to think about it???
What a pr**k.

You obviously have a facelift 156 on a 54 reg. However you state in your avatar you have the 2.5 V6? Is this correct? I ask as your car was never fitted with the 2.5 V6 from the factory. Production of the 156 2.5 V6 ceased in 2003 prior to the facelift launch.

If you have the 2.5 V6, I suspect something dodgy here!!

Bottom line is don't buy from car supermarkets and don't buy extended warranties and NEVER take out their own finance, get it sorted yourself elsewhere, then you get to get the best deal.

Buying at one of those places is worse thing you can do. You're better off at an Auction where you dont get hassled, save ****loads. No after sales service is better than poor aftersales service.

Im currently sewing CarCraft for when I bought my bella and had loads of problems with it, plus the facked my signature, plus the added stuff to the contract of sale that I was not after, plus the finance doubled in payments and how much I had to pay back after 6 months

Its been 2years in June since I started proceedings against them and they have tried every trick in the book to get out of it.

My advice is to try and get the work sorted via your mech and then issue proceedings and sew them.

i had very similar problems to you with a car supermarket years ago, it was car depot i was dealing with, i got a car on finance with them for ÂŁ5k 3 months later it needed ÂŁ5k spending on repairs to get it back on the road, they tried many dirty tricks, on one occasion they accused me (manager of the place said he had seen me with his own eyes) of going to a local car meet (which i had never attended) and doing burnouts and handbreak turns etc. interesting as on the day i picked the car up i complained that the handbreak dident work

anyway, the whole thing ended when i had paid half of the finance i handed the car back to the finance company (check the details this clause should be in all car finance arrangements)

the thing i found out after i had had got rid of the car was that i could have contacted the finance company and complained that the car was unfit for the purpose it was sold under the sale of goods act and that the finance company would chase the seller untill it was resolved

my advice is to contact your finance company and make them aware of everything that has happened (dont forget the finance company own the car until it is paid for), also make it clear that if the situation is not resolved quickly you will park the car outside their office, hand them the keys and log book and cancel you direct debit with them and refuse any futher payment unless the car is made fit for purpose i.e safe and roadworthy

also contact trading standards about the matter so that they can investigate the service center that supposedly serviced your car, im sure they will be very interested in the matter

PC Bui;ld has given some useful advice here. Might also be worth contacting trading standards, Another useful nugget is if the dealer is a PLC buy shares and attend the shareholders meeting and ask the question "Do you think (outline story) is good customer service and adds to shareholder value" Directors do not like being embarrassed in front of their cronies and other investors. The threat worked for me when I had a similar incident with Dagenham Motors years ago. Also see a solicitor (first half hour is usually free) and finance companies are more likely to respond to a solicitors letter. Hope this helps and good luck with getting your cash back
