I'm going to say no, these are non economical upgrades. Can't imagine either would be possible outside the factory.

 

i plan on visiting these guys for my headlight upgrade later in the year!

I'm thinking of adapting my (non-Xenon) headlights. I'm unimpressed with the halogen DRLs that look like candles in a silver bowl. Plan is to get some of the LED DRL/Direction indicator combined bulbs and use a wiring adaptor. That way the drl & indicator will be behind the lens & the existing H15 bulb will be main beam. It'll look more like a Giulia with the upgraded headlamps & eliminate the current yellow drls. We'll see what happens....

 

A question - is there a difference between the Xenon headlights that are in the Speciale and the Quadrifoglio ?

 

Yes. The Speciale and Veloce have 25w Bi Xenon headlights . The Quad and also some Supers with Lusso packs have 35w Adaptive headlights which swivel with steering angle.

 

Well looks like an epic fail! The wiring for the indicator bulb is in the base which connects to contacts in the body of the headlight, so no chance there! Thing is with clear lenses on it's easy to see the bulb so LEDs are going to cause MOT issues. Looks like the best I can do is some Osram Cool intense H15 bulbs to upgrade the mainbeam/DRL. At £20 each these are expensive bulbs!

 

Cheaper than the high-spec lamp by £1000 or more I gather...

 

Another question - did the Speciale come with a heated windscreen ? or what versions did ?

 

If you mean the front windscreen, no giulia's (or indeed any Alfa's) have this. (electricaly heated front windscreen)

 

Some 159s had it later on with royalties to Ford but now they wouldn’t have to pay them?

Seriously though, I would not rely on ebay descriptions

Probably because there were no heating elements!

 

So after the LED DRL disaster, I've now upgraded all my Halogen headlights: H15s to Osram cool blue intense, which look a load better than the original ones and the H7s to Philips racing vision. It's just a bit tricky with the bulbs being visible through the clear lens that having LEDs would be easily identifiable by anyone keen to check. Still as you say Cue, £37 for a pair of bulbs (yes £37 is the cheapest I could find decent upgrade H15s) is a lot cheaper than £1000 for a set of headlights.
