Re: F1 2009

The only problem I have is with the ridiculous points system. The budget cap (if policed properly and thoroughly) can only help the sport in the long term.

Re: F1 2009

Unofficial Wednesday times from Jerez- Day4:
1. Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren MP4-24, 1:18.202
2. Kazuki Nakajima, Williams FW31, 1:20.023

Mclaren seem to have made some progress - only 4 tenths of Button yesterday

Re: F1 2009

Alonso is on the same page as we are:

Alonso believes the constant rules changing is not helping the sport, and he was critical
of the FIA for not listening to the teams, the drivers, or the fans.

The Renault driver also admitted he was worried about the future of Formula 1,
and is hoping some of the rules can still be changed in the near future.

"I worry, not so much about the decisions that affect the season that's about to start,
but, above all, those that affect the future of the competition in the coming years.

Re: F1 2009

Buttons as well:

"I think the public will struggle to understand why a driver with 60 points
can become champion instead of the one who has 100," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I understand the logic behind it and I find it interesting.

"For sure it's an incentive to always go for the win, but it seems risky too - after nine races,
we could find ourselves with a driver that has already won the title and can stand
still eating ice cream, while the guy in second in the standings is just 18 points behind."

Re: F1 2009

Surely the new points system will simply enocourage "team orders" again

Re: F1 2009

Mclaren finally unlocking some substantial speed with some final diffuser/front wing modifications and patch up body work :

1. Nakajima Williams-Toyota (B) 1:17.494 102
2. Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes (B) 1:17.946 84

Kova stopped on track so they have some reliability issues as well.
testing is over!

Judging on previous posts I suppose Nakajima is favorite for the championship now!!!:cheese:

Kova had a technical problem and stopped on track. I'm sure that he would have
bumped/equalled Nakajima. The MP4-24 was consistently around 2 seconds off
the pace so it's a positive sign. They still might be a bit short for Melbourne but
at least they made some progress.

I think everything will even out in the heat of battle for the first few races with people using their new packages theres going to be retirements and accidents etc. Lewis and the other front runners will be making sure they get maximum points im sure for day 1 of the championship
