I'm guessing you use elearn to deal with problems you have? Any idea how to get it running? I tried downloading from here http://193.219.82.238/~manual/Workshop%20manual's/
then I burned it onto a cd and it still wont install?

I've had a search around on her and cant find a definite way to get it working? I'm running windows vista.. Is that a problem?

Looks like the same site I downloaded the 147 version from.

I've had problems, now solved. I unpacked the .rar files into a folder on the hard drive & ran the install file from there - it appeared to install correctly, but when I tried to run it it asked for the data CD, so I then burned everything onto a CD. It still kept asking for the CD even when the CD was already in the drive.

I've reinstalled it using the installation file on the CD & it works perfectly; all I can assume is that it sees the drive the installation file is run from as the CD-ROM drive; it would be looking in the root directory, not the folder I'd set up, so it wouldn't run from the hard disk. A way round that would be to put all the eLearn files into the root directory, then presumably it could run fromt he hard disk; personally, I'm happy to have to use the CD & keep the hard disk tidy!
(I'm running Vista)

If you're familiar with the "regedit" tool of Windows, it's no problem to run eLearn from the hard drive (which is much faster than from CD):

After installing the manual search for "eLearn" in regedit or go directly to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/eLearn". There is a variable "cdPath", where you can insert any directory of your hard drive, in which you have copied the content of the CD.

BTW: Has anyone found a workshop manual for the Brera (MY08) yet? I would have taken one from the italian eBay seller, but I'm not sure if this version covers the MY08. I've asked the seller, but his answer was a bit confusing.

Those eBay discs aren't eLearn as far as I know, at least the one I bought wasn't. Total waste of money IMO.

Try loading it onto a false drive using something like daemon tools. This works for me, as it tricks the computer into thinking the CD image is actually a separate drive with a CD in.

Sure I'll leave it for now then, have bookmarked this thread anyway incase I decide to try again in the future:) I have never seen a forum like this before.. Amazing:) Think I'm the only 18 year old I know that spends his life on a car forum and not bebo and facebook.. And somehow I manage to still have a girlfriend.. Just about though! She think's I have developed a problem recently! She's getting her first car soon, working on it to be a 147:) Hahaha Been scheming for months!

It says in Adobe that this file isn't recognisable??? are you trying to open it in Adobe Reader??? if so then you're on to a loser there ...

Most of the files on that site are "rar'd" up disk images, if you have one that is an iso disk image then some "rar" programs automatically extract the files from the iso ... which isn't what you want to do ..

1. extract the single file that exists inside the .rar file (this will either be a .iso or a .nrg)

2. If it is a .nrg file then you'll need to get a copy of nero to burn this (as a disk image) to a disk ... or better still get nero to burn it to an iso file.

3. download virtual clone drive from SlySoft Download | AnyDVD, CloneDVD, CloneCD, GameJackal, Any DVD, Clone DVD, Clone CD, Game Jackal (it says it works with vista)

4. install virtual clone drive, this will give you a virtual cd drive, then with this virtual drive mount the .iso file ... and install from there.

5. I think you'll need admin privilage to run eLearn though ... not sure about this though ...

Just as an update to my previous post ... it turns out that that free virtual CD program I linked to DOES read .nrg files so there is no need to convert it to iso

Hi Guys,

Anyone who is having problems using the eLearn software send me a private message with your email address. I will email you a PDF document I have put together explaining how to install this with step by step instructions its the complete idiots guide lol. Its not difficult you just need to make sure you select the correct options. It also explains how to change the CD path in regedit to run this manual straight from your HDD which makes it much faster and more responsive. If you need the download link you will find the manuals you need at Index of /~manual/Workshop manual's

Cheers

Dave
