Double Standards

It seems all very well for AlfaOwner to encourage people to attend AROC events and yet when one posts a link to an AROC site it gets censored.

I know, as do many, that there are a lot of AROC members on this site, me included. We never discourage people from joining AO and often include links to this site.

At AROCKES we welcome any Alfa Owner and will continue to do so.

So come on AO play fair.

If it helps to build the community of like minded enthusiasts, let it happen.
I am not an AROC member, but if there was an article, thread or tip that someone thought was useful to us AO'rs then I for one would like the option to see a link.
I'm not going to stop logging on here just becuase I visited another forum or site.

Could you have looked into the background of the thing you're complaining about and made sure you knew the facts before going off half cocked?
You could, for instance, email Ian or raise a support ticket to check why this is the case?

I agree entirely that there's no reason for there to be bad feelings between the two - but do you think your original post is likely to help in that regard, or to foster them?

Bazza, I think this needs to be aired, I have personally had links to AROC and associated links removed or censored, Accusing me of being half cocked is not helpful.

I'm not getting into specifics either this is about a mindset rather than semantics.

It does AO no favours, in-fact it makes AO appear insecure, which of course it is not and has no reason to be. AROC has no equivalent. AO is in fact one of the best single marque networking sites on the web.

So lets see an end to this pettyness, and do what AO professes to do, provide the best service to its members and contributors.

In case you were wondering I love AO and AROC. I believe the two organisations can really compliment each other, given a chance.

Make it so...

Can the OP please post me a PM and at least give me the opportunity to look into this.

I co ordinate the northern region reps but have moderation tools in all of the region lounges and I can assure all AO members that I have not deleted and event or posts regarding AROC.

If you recall last years NAD we supplied marshalls for the event and AROC gave AO a section at the show.
A lot of work was invloved from both AO and AROC staff and we like to think that both clubs have gotten away from this them and us mentality.

Test.

Just testing to establish the link to the AROC Home page works.

If you are trying to link to an event in the site unless you are an AROC member the link will not connect.

This one has me very

I don't like it when we get accused of being unfair to AROC as we have worked so hard to improve relationships between the clubs over the last few years :(

Events Diary as well

I don't know what the issues are

I've just proven to you that AROC web site links are valid on AO and given examples of how both clubs have worked together :(

If you have a personal recent example of censorship or AO being anything other than fully co operative with AROC please post it.

If you can't I would suggest an apology may be in order because I know personally all of the hard work that is completely voluntary that goes on behind the scenes to provide the service we do for ALL Alfsta regardless of which club they pay membership fees to.

It really is a kick in the you know whats when we read threads like this :(

I think it could have been aired in a much better way than to go straight into accusations of 'double standards' and 'pettyness', (at least as unhelpful as accusing you of being half-cocked by doing so I would say) but OK, let's try to work it out.

The only thing I can think of is that a meeting proposal was posted, and that was moderated until it could be OKed and confirmed by our regional rep team. That's standard practice and has nothing to do with censorship of AROC or anywhere else. It's a temporary measure largely to make sure the details are all correct before a load of people accept them.
HM has just ably demonstrated that the AROC URL isn't censored.

If you refuse to go into specifics, how can Happy Man work out exactly what the issue was and work out whether it's been fixed / you were mistaken / there's a sensible reason behind it?

If you give HM the necessary details, he'll sort it out, no doubt. He is the meeting man. But if claim that something happened, refuse to tell us what or when it was, and use that vagueness as a stick to beat AO with, what's he supposed to do?

This is good news,

I must apologise in that case, the last time I posted "AROC" anything it was asterixed. My bad if this has been changed. As an apology I will ensure that a specific link to AO is included on our site and that it works correctly.

apologies again if I have offended anyone.

I've cross-posted with HM there, but glad to see we're on exactly the same page.

I'm going to leave it to him now and stop butting in :)o), you won't find anyone more helpful, and more entusiastic about making any type of meeting as inclusive as possible.

Glad we got to the bottom of it. I had originally thought you meant URLs were automatically censored, and wondered if it was an overlooked hangover from a time when AROC were bundled in with any other 'competing' forum not being allowed to advertise. But then when I say HMs test, I couldn't work out what it was you had an issue with - hence the confusion.

Use to be an issue but long since resolved:thumbs:

I can post links to AO too via the AROC forum and AO gets a mention on the AROC front page under world clubs:)

Right, what's all this about then?

Don't worry, Morgan's here... I'll sort it.

Oh, you've all made up. :( I'll get me coat.
