MES should tell you which ECU the error is associated with, if you do a DTC Scan. Then if you connect to that ECU you might more details.

On some cars, U1008 means

Description:When the Body Control Module (BCM) detects that the LIN Bus is shorted to ground or battery voltage.Cause:

• LIN 1 BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
• LIN 1 BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
• INTELLIGENT BATTERY SENSOR
• TRANSFER CASE SWITCH
• BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)

On the Giulia there is a LIN bus from the BCM to the IBS sensor mounted on the battery. So look for something wrong in the area of the battery.

PS I suggest you log the problem with Alfa Care before the warranty runs out, with luck then you can get it fixed at no charge.

I will run a DTC scan when the error code comes up again and see if i can find out any more information.

I will also ring Alfa care to log the incident - Althought the car was due its third service just before lockdown so it got cancelled. With the 3rd service so close to the warranty expiring and messages on the dash telling me to change engine oil and service schedule has expired i decided to service the car myself.

I purchased MES to reset the service messages What i don't know is if the error message has been there for sometime and if it related to a sensor

I plan on keeping the car for a long time i had my 155 for 16 years before changing to a 159

 

Have you seen the threads about extended warranty and service plans? Wise investments for a keeper.

 

I have but this is the first car I have had with warranty and I tend not to trust the dealerships

Bit of a risk but I think I can save money this way and do a better job

 

I have the same error and posted to another group, apparently it is caused by the relays under the wing, replace and error should clear, or at least iv been told

Thats the code for the chargecooler pump relay failure, its a background code so wont bring the engine light on and usually fixed with a new relay on the rail under the drivers side front wheel arch.
