First, if the car you own yourself more than half year, I think you can bring it to EU as your property without some of taxes.

2022 reprogramming requires SGW bypass unit unless you already have it - you can buy from my webshop (shop.stuff4car.com), or elsewhere - e.g. Alfissimo in USA (from him also a lot of other stuff required).

Taillamps are first obvious, here are 2 things to sort out:
1.US version has red indicator but required is yeallow/orange:
a)buy EU lamp version set (all 4 as colour is different) - cheap may be 2nd hand - e.g. I sold mine for liek USD250 in perfect condition
b)give your taillamps for conversion of LEDs - that of course is not fully legal solution (no EU homologation symbol on lamp), and through red glass of indicator, yellow LEDs would not be that great visible in sunnny days - I know some converting companies use higher power LEDs to compensate, other use standard (and it is really poor then in sunny days)
c)buy new taillamps - expensive, but here you may consider option of going for MY20+ Q/GTA smoked transparent taillamps - Alfissimo may have them - they look superb - I changed mine 3 years ago

2.You reprogram in MES taillamps to separate stop from indicator to EU setting

Id say Austrian police or national roadworthiness test centers will be very strict, so front lights also should be changed to EU. First is that yours are clearly visible they are US (orange sidemarkers we do not have). Of course Europen homologation symbol. On top of this none US lamps have autoleveling nor manual leveling required in EU.

Yes, 25W headlamps do not require auto leveling nor washers, but require manual leveling you do not have in USA lamps. So you would need set of new lamps. Question is if you have currently 25W USA lamps or 35W with AFLS? Asking, as 25W then at least you have loom (cable to headlamp panel to lamps) which allows manual leveling EU panel installation after changing both panel and lamps. Note, that EU panel has different light position at different angle of knob than US version, and after change icons won't match - but who cares (on ICP you have your information; or it is possible to open panel and do bit of soldering of SMT resitors to match if you fancy).
25W EU lamps 2nd hand are rather not available and expensive, as popular for USA->EU giulia conversions.
If you had 35W, then I would recommend to cut these 2 wires from AFLAS (in passenger footwell, they are for these lamps digital link to individual headlamp) gang them and route to headlamp panel right pin so 25W manual/analog signal can be delivered from panel to 25W EU headlamps to control height of beam).

Of course it is possible also to retrofit 35W and AFLS, much easier if your car has already 35W, but although 2nd hand lamps are cheaper, then a lot of labour is required to retrofit dual pump washer tank, all looms, bumper with washers and mainly looms&leveling sensors (including drilling and threading wishbones to attach levers) - of course aside of proxi change - not recommending unless you are feeling comfortable doing this yourself with only schematics and have enough time to do + garage where underneath car jobs can be done.

If you do not care about having EU navigation nor FM radio stations every 0.1MHZ as are in EU, then you do not need to change country, and so no issues with driver lock/fuel flap lock, and so no need to modify looms. However, if you want above working as in EU and upload EU maps, then after country change to any EU, you need to do small mod of door locks loom beside BCM in passenger footwell. It is left big vertical connector, where you cut wire going to pin 18, and doorlock side you gang to pin 3 (in EU config we have all locks unlock pulse on pin 3, in US it is split).

Postlift maps possibly will be uploadable for free for now - you download from maps.mopar.eu for any postlift EU car (from adverts) and should upload (shoudl, though I heard some cars do not want to accept EU maps for some reason - I haven't investigated - not doint jobs in cars for customers for 2.5 year already, no time). Your TBM module (LTE internet, alfaconnected services link, live traffic for nav, emergency call), may complain if you change from NAFTA - I guess its LTE prepaid SIM is only for NAFTA. Usually people disconnect it and rerun proxi (as far as I know it is behind dash 8.8" display, but confirm - I already go bit out of loop with only some info reaching me but not pracical experience from own jobs ).

One topic where I won't help is I do not know how in various EU countries they look at engine emissions. I suspect that your car would not meet or have officially confirm our EURO norms, or at least not the most recent - NAFTA ECUs have different settings/maps than EU (are more alive cars thanks this - there are aside of maps, differences in turbine, westgate and God knows what else). In Poland or a lot of countries from post soviet occupation/newer EU joiners it is no problem at all currently, I guess we have similar amount of US imported cars than EU imported. But how that looks in old EU more stricter countries, who knows? Would they test emissions? whould they look at official papers for the car (check your homologation/certification documents, maybe it states also some EU EURO norms your car meets?).
Based on EURO norm you may not be able to access some zones in city centers now or in nearest years.

I hope I gave you essence of the conversion topic.
Hi, I adjusted the cables as you wrote and the driver's door won't lock. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you very much.

Hmm interesting. So maybe this won't be quite as simple it maybe it all comes down to getting the right inspector.

What website would I look for used EU lamps on?

I'm really hoping there would be a way to avoid the manual levelling requirement or they wouldn't notice, because I imagine that is where it would get costly to replace the headlights and all that. I mean technically, headlights in the US can be manually adjusted. You just have to pop the hood and turn a screw to raise or lower the lights. So does the law require they be manually adjusted from the cabin?

Do you know how I would find more info for the emissions stuff? Where do I get this homologation document?

How much would you estimate this conversion would cost all together doing the bare minimum needed?

yes, I'm a hoof - I connected pin4.

it works now - thank you very much

Hello All,

@epsonix
@Zor

I have taken a job in Austria and would like to bring my 2022 MY Giulia Veloce with me. I have become acquainted with all the bureaucratic costs and taxes to import the vehicle, but am trying to fully understand what it will take to convert the vehicle for EU registration and was hoping those in the know or who have done this could help.

Based on my research I need to do the following:
-Adjust the computer for the rear lights to light up following EU and not NAFTA regulations. It seems like this can be done fair easily with the Multiecuscan software, right?

-It seems like there are differing opinions on if the bulb should be changed, the whole light assembly, or nothing at all. I imagine Austria is pretty strict so what do you all think? Does anyone have a link to where a new bulb or light assembly could be bought?

-It seems like that as long as I have the 25W headlights, that no headlight washers or other headlight regulations (like auto leveling apply. Is this correct?

-I found some threads about having to modify the BCM pins to change the infotainment language, the FM settings and download European maps. I'll use apple carplay exclusively, so I won't need the new maps and I'll want to keep it in the English language, so will I even need to mess with the BCM pins? Is this needed to adjusted the rear lights?

Is there anything else I'm forgetting that I will need to do to allow EU registration? I really really appreciate the help as I prepare for this undertaking.

And Esponix, I added you because you seem like a master in this area and I would really appreciate your help. Zor, it seems like you were recently able to import to an equally strict EU country, so I wanna make sure I'm not missing anything.
Hello, I know this post is alr old. But i have a question. Did you have any problems while switching from american to european headlights, like the connectors?
