You should bed in a new set of brake pads by relatively gentle braking initially, not immediately slamming them on......ABS only works to prevent the wheel from locking - if the pads haven't had chance to bed in, they probably won't work well enough to lock the wheels anyway...hence your experience......

Always assuming that the pads have been fitted properly and are good quality. Brakes shouldn't need bleeding just because pads are changed.

 

This. If the existing discs have had particularly badly worn pads on them, then there may be slight troughs in the metal which will make braking much less effective until the pads have had a little while to adapt, which shouldn't take very long.

 

personally when i fit new pads i put new discs on(disc are cheaper than pads half the time) ...modern pads tend to take discs past their wear limit when pads need replacing anyway
brakes are what stop ya so dont skimp

 

thanks gents ! there is a squeak when i break gently and that is obviously my own doing by not bedding in the pads, so i shall give the pads more time and see what happens. thanks again

 

Take pads out and deglaze them

 

New pads won't be glazed!
