went down to the good gents at the bournmouth branch today and had paul do a remap..

198bhp,with original clutch, car is an 07 blackline jtdm..

what a difference, 1st gear is no longer ''useless'' although it still won't set the world alight its got a bit more, second is gutsier still, and third through fifth the car really comes alive...6th is torquier with the car feeling more sure footed right though the rev range.

I had forgotten how much more solid a vehicle feels with extra torque and can only compare it too going from a 500cc bike to a 750..bikers amongst you will know what I mean..

on the way back overtaking was a breeze with torque to spare in 4th and 5th, no peaks the power comes in progessively and is gentle on my according to loz ''on its way out'' clutch.

no problems as as of yey but i don't bat around like a loon, i suspect if driven with some mechanical sympathy/empathy there are really not likely to be any issues other than the clutch, but to be expected really.

have budgeted for a new clutch, Q2 and a set of H&R ARB's in the next 6 months along with the first priority swirl flap removal...

after all this I will have a very sorted blackline...both mechanically and cosmetically..

I fully expect its true pedigree will show through when after all the work is done I get the nexens off and fit a full set of goodyear eagle f1's...all complete by may with any luck.

many thanks to loz and the chaps for making me so welcome, and getting the job done quickly and most importantly properly.

can't rcommend them enough..

I am going to enjoy transforming my GT into the car it should have been from the factory..

Damnit man I'm jealouse now... my '07 Blackline is begging for the same treatment!

How much did that work set you back, and how quick were you in and out?

EGR/Swirl-Flap delete are high up on my to-do list... Might try putting the money away for it all and heading over to Bournemouth one Saturday and having them do it all in one hit!

ÂŁ250 all in inc VAT which I think is a very fair price for a remap and egr delete...obviously the egr is mapped out as well as blanked off so physical and electronic delete, ,meaning no annoying eml..

coupled with the fact its a tried and tested map specifically for the jtdm engine...I was surprised how subtle it was at first yet very noticable,

like a good map should be, subtle but noticable...feels every bit the 198BHP claimed and that is with some ''reserved driving'' when the Q2 and uprated clutch go on I will give it the beans!

begs the question why wasn't it done at the factory...?

I assume so...I did ask paul about a more conservative map of 170-180 bhp and he said no point..have to agree as this is pefect..

yup good price, no rolling road but TBH its not important to me to have that. ecu was checked first to make sure it was stock and it was..

sooo much better than the JTS.

I have had the same done by Wayne at the Houghton Regis branch, its a phenomenal remap isnt it, 3rd & 4th gear are just awesome. I take it easy in 5th & 6th i dont want to load the clutch to much as my clutch also has mileage on it.

We have a Brera JTDM coming in at the Autolusso Penrith branch later on this week, another EGR delete and remap. They are vastly improved by blanking the EGR and mapping it out of the software. Will help prevent soot building up on the swirl flaps too which can be a very costly failure. Even preventative removal is a big job.

I took my 08 Cloverleaf 170 Q2 in to Autolusso (Bournemouth) for 24000 mile service, re-map (210bhp) & EGR delete a couple of weeks ago. Incredible improvement in performance and economy - wow will this thing go and now over 40 MPG around town & 55 + on a run (if you believe the OBC).

Loz and his staff were brilliant as always - know their stuff and look after their customers - have had 2 calls since to make sure all is ok, which it is. Happy customer!!

Now, what's next - upgrade on suspension/shocks?

Good to hear your happy with Autolusso's service, always nice to hear positive feedback from our customers.

As you already have a Q2 diff, I personally would consider upgraded antiroll bars (Eibach) unless you want it to look visibly lower, in which case upgraded shocks and springs. Don't forget brakes too, braided hoses, performance brake fluid and good discs and pads (Performance Friction?), they will get you out of trouble one day.

Thanks for the tips on brake/springs/shocks - what I'd really, really like is a slightly more forgiving ride. The 18's look great, but on our roads you feel every bump. I can live with it but wonder if there is any shock/spring solution for a better ride quality. The GT has P zeros on with at least 6mm tread, so no point in changing at this time.

All suggestions gratefully received.

We do a slightly modified Bilstein B4 shock that works really well with the Eibach pro spring kit, I think this is what you are looking for

It does lower the car slightly but the slightly firmer spring compresses less and the Bilstein shock deals with it beautifully so make the ride fantastic

Or if you want it really sorted and we an Eibach Pro street S kit which uses KW shocks and our specific front springs coupled with Eibach roll bars, this is what is on my GTA

Thanks Ned - could you please give me a guide on price for both options fitted?

Depends if anything else needs replacing while we are doing the job but if all goes well

Option 1, Our Blistein shocks and Eibach springs ÂŁ900 inc VAT

Option 2, Eibach Pro Street S with Eibach roll bars ÂŁ1,400 ish inc VAT this ia harder and loner to fit so more likely to have issues

Well you lot have pretty much persuaded me!

Been talking to Loz on the PM's gonna drop my Blackline into the Bournemouth branch around March for its 48k service, a little warranty work if poss, and EGR delete + remap...

The work bonus should have landed by then hopefully so will cover the cost of my nice new toys!

then it's time to start saving for new diff, Eibach ARB+bushes, Powerflex all round (will be due wishbones/droplinks in the near future I reckon, might as well stick the solid bushes on..), moderate drop in suspension and upgraded shocks to soften up the ride on 18s, braided hoses, and then good solid discs and quality pads.... Does it never end?!?

Someone needs to take me round on this improved suspension / Chassis setup.
I'm intrigued if it really is worth the amount.

Or whether upgraded shocks or new sports dampers from say the sports pack Alfa's teamed with new springs are a better compromise on cost.

Intrigued to know how much better the ride becomes as such.

Scotty i've spent so much time and money over the years on my chassis setups. For me its all about how the car feels and handles. Recently its all about usability and the balance between comfort and dynamics.

A perfect road setup has to be compliant yet dynamically stable. For me also being a bit of a tart, i like the perfect stance. Thats why i chose the Eibach S kit with uprated ARB's.

ARBs improve the chassis in so many ways..They sharpen up the steering feel, and balance the rigidity of the car front to rear. The GT chassis platform is such a nice car to drive with a set of uprated bars. The rear of car is so feel some and stable in fast cornering, and double switchbacks. And the already brilliant steering feel is improved.

There are other ways to slightly improve on a ride quality. I use 235/40/18's on my clover 18's, much more comfortable than my oem 225/40/18's. More tyre between rim and road. Also sensibly using spacers car slightly improve ride quality, it pushes the length from the centre pivot further out each side..causing less vibration through the chassis. Although over spacing on the front axle can cause less steering feel. So you have to be careful. :)

Its always a compromise on whatever setup you have. Its just what you want or can live with. Get my car through another mot and ill look at the undersealing cambelt and suspension shocks and springs as they are tired. But options are always good to have.
