Nice photo Monty, I take it you had lots of fun???:D
Hell yes but not keen on taking the GTV round the track.. worried I might hurt her.

Going into the garage tomorrow to have some new EBC disks (Bedford and EBC red stuff pads took my existing disks to end of life) and braided brake lines fitted.

Considering getting a Pug 1.9 GTI as a track day car as the Alfa is a bit too precious to risk on the track that often.

I agree, I have been looking for a while now narrowed it down to a 205 GTi after deciding the MR2 Mk1 was too rusty and the Golf GTi too heavy. I have been looking on ebay, there seem to be plenty available.

I am planning to do my next track day around March/April so will have time to get the cash together and sort the car. I may even get one ready to go, stripped and sorted..:D

Hi Simon, FYI any GTA on track needs to have at least 1/3 of a tank of fuel or it can suffer fuel starvation under really heavy cornering.

This would normally send it into a temporary limp home mode or stutter for 10s or so, but a cut-out is possible too.

In limp home mode, just head to the pits slowly.
Car will be fine when you turn it off and on again, but add more petrol :)

Cheers,
TB

Gentari,
Apologies that you didn't get your pax ride in the GTA:
I achieved 11mpg, and managed to cut out with fuel starvation after McLeans bend, presumably all the fuel was on the opposite side of the tank to the downpipe!
Re-fuelled (at 120p per litre) but decided to call it a day one session early as not sure at the time that fuel had been the cause of the engine failure. Ran faultlessly on the way back, so pretty certain that was it.
A great fun day nevertheless.
Simon

TB,
Hi, and thanks for the confirmation on the fuel.
Last year with a normally aspirated engine, I got nowhere near the low fuel warning, but this year, on full chat, it certainly glugged the juice. Great fun, nonetheless:D

Indeed.

I have been a bit lax about organising something here. This will be addressed shortly.

(Neil - perhaps you could help with this?).

I am sorting out my next track day for March, but will not be using the Alfa. I will be taking out my Mitsubishi FTO for the first time.

I bought another car after realising that as I get better/faster I run the risk of stuffing it into a wall, as my daily drive I can't afford that to happen to the 147.

So the next track day featuring me and an Alfa will probably be Donington again next year.

Anyone wishing to join in and have some fun at Snetterton in March for a track day, then why not come along.

I will be trying to get to the 2008 season meet of the Alfa Romeo Championship, again at Snetterton, I will update with news when I have it, although it looks like early May for the first round, more info @ alfaracer.com.

Neil,
Not getting onto AO much at moment, things a bit mad at work!
I am interested in Snetterton in March, if you could PM me with details I will look into
PaulR,
Sorry I missed your message, and the meet the experts day - sure you all had a good day

Hi Simon,

I will let you know details as I get them, at the moment calenders for 2008 are not sorted, but expect late march or early april, hopefully an open pit lane meet so we can get a lot of laps in.

Still have to sort the brakes, a wheel bearing and ensure the speed restricter is sorted (I don't want the 112 mph limit to hold me back) on the FTO, but will be loads of fun.

Neil, dont know what your plans are to remove the speed restrictor on the FTO but on mine I just put a KMH to MPH converter on the speedo cable and that sorted it. Unfotunately I was never going to get it going at 180 mph so it wasnt a problem

SPEEDO CONVERTER/DELIMITER MITSUBISHI GTO/FTO/EVO/CHIP on eBay, also, Mitsubishi, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Dec-07 10:54:19 GMT)

Theres one for you

Thanks Rafe,

It has already been converted, but by all accounts the chip can be put in 2 places, 1 does the kph/mph convert, the other does that and fools the limiter which is set to a figure of 180...ie 180 KM, so once into miles the likelyhood of getting to 180 MPH is zero. Will get an auto electrician to sort. I did have a sneaky go and the limiter does kick in...boo hoo.
