abs pump failure error code c1266

I have the abs/vdc lights on the dash. plugged in FES and get the fault code c1266. Gone into actuators to test and i get nothing from the motor, not a sound. The other sensor errors all clear regarding brake/hub sensors so i assume its reading the ecu.

Could it be ceased up, burnt out, or electrical? like i say i cant hear anything when enabling the actuator on fes.

Any ideas or experience with this would be wonderful.

cheers, Mark

Three fuses to check first.
Disconnect the battery first as some are combined with airbag and abs circuit's.
Fuse 1 under the dash 15 amp.
Fuse 5 maxi fuse top right above the abs pump itself 60 amp.
Fuse 9 50 amp top left on top of the battery.
Try them first mate, it's very rare they seize or burn out so sound electrical to me...
It may sound brutal but with ignition on, use the handle of a wooden hammer and place the end on top of the pump itself. Now with a second hammer give it a firm tap downwards... I have experienced a pump sticking that gave the same fault and that is all it needed... 4 years later the car abs pump has never caused any further hassle;)

Right, now we are getting somewhere...
Believe it or not, that knock has done the trick... You had an electrical corrosion issue between fuse and relays... It is now more specific.
So now we know one of the relays are sticking;)

As you look from the front of the engine bay there is a plastic black cap attached to the left side of the metal pump block infront of the small fuse box... It has a few torx screws in it... beneath that cover are two relays.. Disconnect the battery first.....
Chances are they are slightly corroded and just need cleaning... If you aren't confident about cleaning them, just unscrew the cover and move it away slightly and spray a load of electrical contact cleaner on them and give them a wiggle. It should do the trick mate;)
Refit the cover, connect the battery and check/ clear the codes:thumbs:

I have seen owners actually intend to scrap their cars or buy new pumps just for the sake of cleaning the relays, simply because they didn't realize they were there!

ok thanks, am i on the right track? do i remove the metal casing on both? not sure what a relay looks like. it all looks very clean.

the bottom right pic is the fuse box sat at the bottom of the battery. i can only see 1 50amp fuse for abs and that is fine. is there another one in here?

the bottom left pic sits on the battery. one large fuse and then 2 30amp fuses and 1 70amp fuse all visually ok. do you know if one is for the abs ecu?

thanks for sticking with this for me!

yes remove the metal casings clean the spade contacts and give them a tap on a hard surface to see if you hear a spring click inside them... Sometimes the contacts inside get stiff and make an closed circuit so in effect ,with a tap it frees it off.
The other fuse... Hold on, i will check your photos...

Its difficult to see on the top right photo but if you look at this:

You see the thin black plastic boxes at the top right next to the brake fluid reservoir? The other fuse is located in one of them
Reference: "Fuse 5 maxi fuse top right above the abs pump itself 60 amp."

You are on the right track with the relays though. Once you locate the other fuse and check that, then fingers crossed it should work, it's usually all it takes. If it still offers no joy, then apart from checking earth contacts and multi-plugs, the chances are it has gone south for the winter I'm afraid.
You can rest assure that you have done everything else possible to double check though so don't be disheartened.

Let me know how you get on... If I can help, I certainly will:thumbs:
