3.2 JTS injectors

I took my car into Alfa Workshop for a service and asked them to look at the slight misfire which it has, particularly when cold. I have replaced all plugs, coil packs, and the temperature sensor (coolant), which made little difference.
They couldn't find any fault codes and reckon it would be an injector issue, which is apparently common.

AlfaWorkshop didn't have any injectors in stock. Rather than have the car off the road for a while, whilst waiting for refurbishment of the originals, I bought a set of six from eBay and have had those tested and refurbished by MrInjector. I actually sent him 7, as I had bought a single spare previously. Of the six in the set, five were able to be resurrected, the sixth failed even after multiple attempts to clean. Luckily the single one was good so I have a complete replacement set.
James (MrInjector) says he sees a lot of these with blockages, due to the plastic filter mesh disintegrating. Even a tiny bit of the plastic will block the jets. He replaces with metal mesh.

These refurbed ones will be fitted to the car in the next week or two. I then plan to get the original set tested and refurbed. I'll keep two, as spares, and sell the others assuming that they can all be made good.

If anyone on the forum needs one or two, let me know. I'll offer them here before eBay.

I had the refurbished injectors put into my car, and took it out for a drive yesterday. It has made a big difference, the misfire is gone and the engine feels like a six cylinder should do - very smooth.

It will be interesting to see if the fuel economy improves as I was pressing the accelerator less than I had to previously, at given speeds.

The injectors taken out of the car have gone to Mrinjector and I'm looking forward to seeing what his report says. My suspicion is that one, or possibly two, was or were blocked to some extent.

Glad you got it sorted Nick - persistence pays off!

Do you know if the injectors are the same on a 2.2?

I'm presuming not, but I don't know for sure...

My engine warning light came on a couple of weeks ago, but the car was running fine. It went off the next day and hasn't come on again since. I haven't checked the codes yet as I will need to buy the full version of multiecuscan. If it mentions misfire and they are the same, I may be calling!

Edit: I've just had a look on Alfaworkshop site and the part numbers are different, but they do look the same!

Thanks Tom. If you do find that the injectors are the same, despite the different part numbers, I'll be happy to put a spare or two aside for you :). I should get them back from service before the end of the month.

I took the car out to my AROC Essex section meeting last night, a round trip of about 70 miles. Fuel economy doesn't seem to have changed, sadly :ROFLMAO:.

Cheers Nick, I'll check compatibility with Alfaworkshop....

UPDATE

I had the original injectors refurbished, and picked them up today. They weren't bad at all (the car has done less than 30k miles so I didn't expect them to be terrible) but one was partially blocked which would explain the misfire. They have all cleaned up nicely, have had the serviceable bits replaced, and are all working exactly as they should.

I will keep 2 and am going to sell 4. I'm offering them on here before I put them on eBay. ÂŁ85 ea. plus P&P. PM me if interested.
