Has anyone replaced the pollen filter on a 166? Is it easy to do? I don't even know the location so any help is appreciated.

Yeah, easy enough although not obvious at all.

Remove central box section of plastic bulkhead cover. Then unsbolt relay/fuse holder (2x 10mm, I think) and move it to the side. You can then get at the filter box, remove 2 screws on the top and then pull filter holder up and out.

Like he siad, its under the windscreen wipers. Always for of crud and wet, no matter how many times you clean and dry it (be careful of heater matrix)
Not cheap for a new one! Shop around!
I take mine out in winter, since no pollen.... :) as thats when it gets wettest at base.

I used halfords one trimmed to size for my 156 but could not find a suitable match on the shelf for the 166 unfortunately.

My car: Alfa 166 2.0 TS Year 2000
Every now and then I get a fault message on the ICS saying "Air conditioning system faulty". If I hit Climate button it goes off and then seems ok again but can comes on again. Could this be the pollen filter? Do all alfa 166's have them.

If not any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

If I recall correctly does it not say Contact Workshop.....Common occurrence I think .My 2.5 has been doing this for 2 years. In October last year the fan stopped working.Possible connection possibly not.

I dont think the warning is anything to really worry about. As I say I read somewhere that this is a comon anomally in the early cars.

All 166's have a pollen filter, if yours has not been changed for a while it may be clogged up and restricting air flow.

If you have the AC on do you notice a damp musty smell? If so the filter is damp and clogged and requires replacing.
