Spoke to Mangoletsti about this issue and I was told that while the car I am buying is only 1 year old it has done 12k so they are giving it a service before I collect it. However the service interval is 18000miles/2 years - whichever comes first!

????????????

something like that

So from ES Jones: every year
ARUK: every year
Mangoletsi: 18k/2 years

where shall I try next:confused:

Hope their fax machine is ready for a service that day...........:)

My first service light has come on just short of 17,000 miles and is counting me down to 18,000 which is what I would expect. Being a JTD the oil change is seperate (!) from the service and that is shown by a different warning light which comes on when the car decides it needs one. Given these two features, can you believe they wouldn't also include one which reminded you 12 months was up if it was necessary for an annual service - especially when my 2002 156 did....?

I genuinely don't think the UK garages have got their heads round this at all and are still working on the last model range for servicing. Don't blame them though - nice work if you can get double the amount of servicing!!
:D

Oh yes, and don't forget some services don't include the oil change so you might find you are going back again for those too....
:cheese:

Well I never knew that! That explains why when I took mine in for it's 18k service I was asked if the oil light had come on. I thought they must mean the service light so said yep thinking dippy receptionist. Turn out it's me that's dippy. So I can expect another visit back soon - Where's the sense in that??

There is no good reason that it should not be 18000 miles or 24 months as I can see. The base 2.2 engine, which is the GM L850 is designed for 2 year service intervals. It depends on whether or not the Alfa tuning of the engine is any harder on the oil, which I would doubt. Most oils are now synthetic and my Audi's lasted the full distance before telling me to get a service (30,000 miles for a diesel and 19,000 for a gasoline). It sounds to me a little like ARUK are trying to get cars into the dealership more frequently. I will wait and get my Spider LE before I take it up with contacts in Italy.

which is why oil and full service are treated separately I assume.

I was thinking Italy.
ask away Fraser.

AFASIK Mangos will send em out a letter telling me when my car is due aservice anyway so it will be interesting to see when this arrives in the future.

The 18000/2 years still makes sense to me.
