156 Electric Window Problem

I've got a problem on my 156 where the rear passenger electric window won't move. When I press the button it sounds like a relay clicks in the door, and the lights dim slightly, but nothing moves.

I'm guessing this means the fuse and wiring are OK and it's a faulty motor or the window stuck in the guides? I'd welcome any thoughts before I take the door apart?

Thanks!

Richard.

The rear window motor mechanism is a real weak point especially if they are not used regularly. Water gets into the steel cable that winds the window up and down and then eventually rusts solid. Once it rusts the window will not move easily and will eventually stick at some point - if you are unlucky like me the plastic clip that holds the glass to the mechanism snaps and the window just drops down.

I'd pick up a second hand window mechanism and motor - shouldnt be too expensive second hand and then you'll need to remove the door trim and replace the mechanism

Thanks, for the help. The switch feels fine (clicks correctly) and I can hear a relay or solenoid or something click in the door as well, plus the lights dim slighty, so it certainly seems more like a stuck mechanism. I've seen there are quite a few window mechanisms on eBay so I'll probably get a new mechanism. Will update more when it's sorted.

Make sure you get the correct side as left and right mechanisms are different - I think later models have a slightly better design but they fit the same, at least in the saloon
