Wife's just rung. Struggling to get the car in gear following a horrible noise from the car. The clutch has been massively heavy for a while now so expecting the clutch.

My question:
Pitfalls I need to worry about when changing. I'm going to do without removing subframe.

Cheers

Selector cables just pop off the ball attachment then undo the bracket and move to one side.

Unbolt driveshafts both sides like you say then they 'should' slide out of the diff (once you have loosened off the bottom of the front strut), but will usually need a bit of persuasion to get the clip on the end of the shaft to let go and come out.

While you have the box out remember to get some HT grease on the bottom of the shaft the actuates the release bearing, makes it much smoother.

Only 3 x 10mms on the long driveshaft, nothing on the short one. They just pull out of the diff, don't try and unbolt them to leave the outputs flange in the diff still, they just get in the way then. I always unbolt the bracket for the selector cables from the top of the gearbox and leave the bracket on the cables themselves.
