PH1 Pulse Generator Conversion Kit (Speed Sensor)

Because of great advice on my last speedometer thread I am now searching for the PH1 Pulse generator for a 2.0 TB.

However most vendors told me they do not carry the part because it is long discontinued and is not available. One vendor is offering me a conversion kit which is a new pulse generator (I assume from another application) and an additional black box to make it work.

I would like to know if anyone has tried this and if it worked and if the fix lasted.

I'd guess it is a magnet strapped to the drive shaft and a receiver mounted near it. If it works that's good but as a last resort maybe...

Three other possibilities -

Remove your generator and maybe some specialist could rebuild it ( they're not that complicated ) or
Try the UK breakers ( Autolusso, ItaliaAutoparts etc ) or
Try eBay Germany as they do have a lot of stuff on there. ebay.de . The problem with eBay.de is getting the correct search term! 'Puls' I think is pulse and 'Tacho' is speedometer. Maybe some helpful forum member could suggest a search term.

The part is common with P1 V6 24v cars so that does increase the odds.

EDIT : For ebay.de, search on gearboxes and contact the seller to see if they will remove the pulse generator to sell to you.

Hi PKR,

This is what is being offered to me. A new VDO speed sensor and adaptor.

I tried most of the companies you mentioned, nobody has the part, it seems not even ebay.de

Its either this or a gps sending unit.
