my 2001 147 selespeed lusso 2.0 has started giving dash light warnings which go away once the ignition is turned off!, E.G vdc system failure, abs system failure! everything seems to still work ok! should I be worried because apart from this the car is perfect! thank you.

It does sound like a battery issue. I had the same problem which I solved by fitting a new battery. Make sure you get one specified for a diesel 147 though as most parts sellers don't have one specific to Selespeeds, which need a higher capacity, especially at startup as the pump primes.
