Converting to mechanical tensioner

I'm currently carrying out a cam belt change on my '89 75V6. I'm converting from the hydraulic tensioner to the mechanical one as advised by EB spares.

Everything's going to plan, however, how do I remove the oil-feeding stud that the tensioner mounts on. Is it threaded, if so right or left handed thread? I dont want to snap off the stud as you can well imagine!

Also, has anyone else tried this conversion? If so, what different methods have you used to seal up the original oil holes?

Many thanks in advance
