I would rather put the blame on the golfers who failed to perform, and also to congratulate the US on a fine team performance. It seems to be very much in fashion to pick on Nick Faldo, a golfer who achieved more than any other in the UK. The law of averages dictate that we cannot win the Ryder cup forever, we have had a good run for many years now.

Err....

But isn't that the point of a good captain to choose the ones that can perform like darren clarke - and also making sure the ones that can - are looked after and matched correctly to get the best out of them...say like sergio...and if they are struggling take the pressure of them...

Faldo's tactics were suspect and YES he should carry the blame...

Thing is though, Faldo used one of his wildcards to pick Poulter who ended up top points scorer when just about everyone was saying it was a mistake.

I would have taken Monty over Casey though on the other wildcard.

Most of the people who criticise Faldo, would not have had the top scorer of the entire series - Ian Poulter - in the side to start with. I would have loved to have seen Monty and Clarke in the side, but would they have performed? If only we had a crystal ball, where we could predict the outcome of matches. One other thing, they are all adult, seasoned professionals, who are supposed to thrive under pressure, so I don't expect any of them to be "mollycoddled". If we look at Sergio, then any of the US team could have taken him on in the singles. At the end of the day, we lost by a very close margin, to a team on their home ground. Let's look forward to two years time, when we can regain the trophy.
