The SNP want a vote on independence for Scotland during this parliament, if you could vote or will vote in that referendum will you say Yes or No to independence for Scotland?

Unlike the real referendum this poll is open to the whole of the UK.

Neither - I would say let the Scots decide. So you need a third option for me....... (I don't mind one way or the other, it's not my choice).

Cheers,

Nigel

If the Scots become independent and the Scottish MPs leave Westminster it will increase Cameron's majority by about 50, I'm suprised he's not jumping at the chance to cast them off..

The Scots meanwhile will become the 28th member of the EU and with no veto and no currency they will just be moving from being part of one union to being part of another, gaining no independence along the way.

Scotland is a nice addition to the UK PLC tourism brochure, and bloody nice people to boot. Not really my place to say, but personally i'd rather see it stay part of the UK, united we stand and all that...

I'm not really sure although a thought going round my head is
that, if they want independance, then they should get just that
and not a half hearted affair where they try to hang on to the
best bits of being part of the UK and just opt out of the bits
they don't like.

They should fund their own infrastructure, in fact, provide for
themselves the same as any other independant country does.
Without our help other than at a cost.

I suspect, although have no way of knowing for certain, that
the canniness of Salmond is being employed to hoodwink the
Scots into believing they can manage financially as an independant
nation. My gut feel is that this is a false premise and he will be
in grave danger of creating another failing european country.
Perhaps Mrs Merkel has already promised him assistance.

I did hear Salmond say in an interview that he wanted Scotland
to be independant (a choice for the Scots maybe) but still part
of the UK (a choice for all of us, surely). Well maybe we won't
want you anymore if you only want the best bits.

I'm sure that if Scotland decide on independence they wont just be cut out stone cold, there will be a period, most likely of decades rather than years where Scotland 'divorces' the UK, as trying to establish an independent economy and infrastructure overnight would be impossible for pretty much anyone in the developed world.
